Bridal Shower gift
Hi all -
I will be attending a bridal shower this weekend. I got the bride a set of Wedgwood bowls (12 in the set). I don't want to bring them all with me and my mother in law suggested to just bring one. The bride wants everything wrapped in clear paper. So how do I do this? Just put a bowl in a basket and wrap in clear paper with a bow on top? What do you all think is best?
TIA

Re: Bridal Shower gift
Aren't they in a box? Just either wrap the box in clear cellophane or don't wrap and put it into a bag.

The bowls are in a huge brown box

Why wouldn't you bring them all? I would leave them packaged as they are and stick a bow on top. I wouldn't care whether people can see what's in the box or not. Nobody really cares what you bought her imo.

Re: Bridal Shower gift
I would just bring the box. You want to request a certain wrapping, well here is your gift with no wrapping.
It would be nice for you to wrap it in a pretty basket blah blah.. but that would be a lot of work for me. I don't think there is anything wrong with sending it just like that at the brides request.

And what are you to do with the other 11? Ship them to her separately?

Re: Bridal Shower gift
If they are in a plain brown box (shipping box ) and you can’t see what’s Inside - I would pack them into a pretty basket and wrap in cellophane. It may be just me, but I enjoy wrapping gifts for these type of special occasions.

Well whoever requested this better hope that single bowl doesn't somehow break at the shower. Just wrap the bowl in cellophane I guess.

This is a trend I’m attending a shower with the same request- it’s so she doesn’t have to open the gift just look through the wrap. Supposidly a time saver

Bridal Shower gift
I would bring the whole box of 12. I would print out a pic of the bowl and put it on the side of the box, and put a bow on top. Done.

What? Drop the box at her house and bring a picture. That lone bowl is going to break and why does anyone want to be lugging a box full of bowls all over the place?

"Be a dear and wrap in clear"
It's the new thing where nobody wants to sit and open gifts at their shower, so their family writes this on the card so the bride can just thank everyone for their gifts without having to open and acknowledge each and every one of them.
I personally am not a fan of this, because I have alot of family who gets personal gifts on top of registry gifts, and they would have been upset to not see me open the gift in front of them. However, this whole "wrap in clear" thing is SO popular so I must be in the minority lol

Re: Bridal Shower gift
I don't work extra for a shower. I wouldn't unbox it. What if you break it? They you have to buy another set of 12 bowls? Nope. I'd just bring it, either stick in in a bag or put a bow on top and call it a day. They just don't want you wrapping it because they don't want to waste time unwrapping it to see the gift.

So how about not wrapping it at all? Why does it need to be wrapped in clear? Seems like a waste and bad for the environment. Just bring an unwrapped gift. Clear is silly. It serves no purpose. Why, so it's shiny?

Or just ship to the home and spend the shower eating, drinking and chatting.
I have never met a single person who enjoys sitting in silence watching someone open towels.

Re: Bridal Shower gift
20 years ago, i would have jumped through all the hoops.
today, i say... don't take a single bowl out of the box. bring the whole box, put a bow on top and call it done.
you run the risk of something breaking at so many different points of the process.
ps. i'm also not a fan of "clear." i understand not wanting to spend a lot of time opening gifts... if that's what you want, just ask them to NOT WRAP the gifts. easy, easy, easy.

Re: Bridal Shower gift
Exactly this... Not only are you requesting clear wrap but now for boxes you cant see the gift - I have to go out of my way to open it and wrap one item. Then make plans with someone to come to my house to pick it up. People have a lot of balls to request this.
I would give her the box as is.. or wrap the box in clear cellophane - but im petty.

Agreed. Bring a picture. Put it in a ziploc bag.
With all of these new-fangled rules about what to bring and how to wrap it, takes the fun out of attending a bridal shower. Easier just to send a gift off the registry and be done with it.
