Oh but the oil spill wasn't too bad and wasn't dangerous according to BP!!  
this is insane and so sad.
I am a fan of the boycott BP page on FB and they are still posting pictures of the aftermath of the oil spill on there all the time. They also post the BP claims about how all is clean and well now...but then you see the conflicting pictures, stories and accounts from people in those areas.
I just posted the video to that site.
so sad.

Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of exposures these workers have had? For ex, this person in the video. What kind of work did she do in the cleanup efforts? This video doesn't say much specifically and I would like to learn more about this.
ETA - You mean they did not even have them wear masks or gloves while cleaning up OIL????

i think the bulk of it would be inhaling the toxic oil fumes. but i'm sure contact with the skin is also another way the toxic oil would seep into the body and be very harmful to organs.

That is so sad, i didn't realize oil could have such an effect on the body like that. This is the first i have heard of BP workers ailments...

Oh yea.. it's a toxic fume. You wouldn't want to be breathing that in. it also causes major respiratory ailments as well... and very much affects the liver.
I know this is slightly different... but I had an oil heat leak in my old apartment. Literally oil heat was leaking through my walls and pooling onto the floor. You could smell it.. and it smelled like gas. The landlord was fine with the leak because he wasn't living in it. He just wanted to patch it up form the outside.. but the fumes are still there. I moved less than 4 months after I discovered the leak! And it took 4 months because we had to find a place and fix it up and then pack and all. But that alone freaked me out. I looked up all the effects of breathing in toxic fumes and skin contact as well.. and the results were soooooo scary!!!!
I'll be honest... I'm not the least bit surprised that people are getting sick and even dying. At all. I knew this would happen, and terrible as it is. But I didn't think it would be so soon. And I cannot believe there were no masks. Some people are claiming that they were told not to even bother wearing any masks or protective gear to clean up the oil. I find that to be negligence at it's worst.
I just looked up some pics of the workers cleaning up... and there are no masks. I can't believe it! you can see sooo many workers cleaning up... and not one wearing a mask or gloves.. NOTHING at all!

YES!! and it's all LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES!!!!
If you look up "boycott BP" on FB you will see people posting pictures to this day of what they are finding in the oil spill areas... what they are STILL finding today in these areas and how BP is claiming it's all cleaned up.
PS- the video is very hard to watch. Really hard. That lady looks like she's about to take her last breath. And she's talking about her friends who were also part of the clean up efforts... and how they all died too. She's begging for the video to get out there so people see what's really going on.
read this .. it's exactly what you are talking about...
and how ironic that a commercial just came on from BP about how it's all cleaned up!!
