Bounce Castle for Party: Yay or Nay?

I am throwing a 5th birthday party for my daughter. I am having an exotic animal show but I also want to have something else as well.

What are people's feelings about Bounce Castle rentals? I typically hate them as I think of them as full of germs. Are they dangerous? I know about the small ones that were airborne, but otherwise, what do people think?

I agree with PP. Bouncy houses are definitely dangerous. I was reading a scary statistic recently about the percentage of ER visits related to bouncy houses now. I wouldn't do it.

I don't think it's anymore germy than going to the park playground Chat Icon I say go for it, but make sure it has an attendant, an not a free for all. 2 kids at a time depending on the size.

I tend to agree.
As long as there aren't 20 kids in there bouncing into each other, it should be ok.

I also don't see how it's any more dangerous than regular play ground equipment. I get so nervous with DD climbing up those high things, with all the places she can fall out. I get anxiety just thinking about it.
I feel like a bounce house is safer than those play structures on playgrounds.

We had one at my son's birthday party and all the kids loved it. You just need to make sure someone is monitoring the situation so they aren't getting to crazy or to crowded. The same as going to a bouncy place party

I prefer the house rental of one of these things vs going to a bounce house. They tend to be smaller & easier to monitor kids on.

Re: Bounce Castle for Party: Yay or Nay?

AJ had one for her 5th bday. It was small and perfect. At 5ish they are big enough to cause harm but still small enough to avoid it.

No one got hurt
Kids did cry because they didn't want to leave
It was great!

ETA it was small because ours was indoors LOL the place we went was basically a pre-school that shuts down for kids parties. So pretend kitchen, stage, kiddie living room, stupidly large playground, train, ship and sand area all included with a bouncy house and only one party at a time!

I had one for DS 2nd birthday party, it was a small bounce house set up in our backyard. But there were only 5 kids in there ranging from 2-4 years old so I really wasn't too concerned.

Not sure how big your yard is or your budget but we actually bought a bounce house a few years ago. My kids love it. Now every time we have a party, BBQ, etc... Instant kiddie entertainment. Just an idea.

bounce house

If the link doesn't work on the toys r us web site it's the little tikes jump and slide.

That's what I did also, we were having an end of year party and it was only a few bucks more to buy a bounce house than rent it. Granted it's smaller than a rental, but still pretty large!

This is the one we have External Image

I already own one of the bounce castles but I want to rent something instead.

OK, how does everyone feel about the giant inflatable slides instead of the bounce house?

I would rent a bounce house! My DD is that age and would run screaming from any type of animal besides a puppy or kitten... possibly a rabbit. LOL. She's also allergic to some animals so at least kids with fears or allergies will have something else to do.

i rented on for out gender reveal/house warming party Chat Icon our kids bday or in the cold weather so we would never have an opportunity for rent one for their bdays.

I went in and sprayed it down with Lysol Chat Icon but I do have to agree they can be dangerous I didn't think to have someone watching over it and I guess figured the parents would stay by them but that wasn't a case and 2 kids did get hurt.

so I do suggest have someone designated as a watcher to make sure it doesn't get too rowdy.
