Block Party in mid-September? Yay or Nay?
Do you think the weekend of September 17th is too late for a block party?
We wanted the weekend of the 10th, but it turns out that our school district is having homecoming that Saturday. Blah.

The weather is still good and the kids are back in school so summer vacations are over so there should be plenty of neighbors around. My parents block is usually around that time.

I think it's a great time for a block party. People are back from vacation so you'll have more participation plus the weather is really nice.

The block I grew up on has had their block party the sat after labor day for at least 35 years...I can only remember once or twice where the weather didn't cooperate...
It was nice be everyone was free - back from summer vacations and one last celebration as school started
Def go for it..sept can have beautiful weather!!!

Thanks for your opinions girls! Looks like we're going to try for the 17th! 
I was married in Sept and picked that month specifically for the weather, but I just didn't know if Block Parties were commonly done later in that month.

Well then they're gonna' have to change their date!  
I'll take that over homecoming. Neighbors can at least go to that in the morning/afternoon and be back for the block party in the late afternoon/evening if they want.
