*Bookworm's IVF Journal* UPDATED w/ beta
Maybe if I make one of these, I'll have better luck getting my BFP

We've been TTC since August 2009. We tried naturally through October, got pregnant, didn't know it (BFN on HPT, wasn't getting betas at the time, got AF), found out at 6 weeks; then I promptly had a painful CP. For 6 months we didn't "try" but we didn't use protection either--nothing. In May 2010, we started TTC again; I had a CP that first month and spent the summer convincing my GYN that something was wrong because I couldn't even get OPKs to work properly (temps would show I O'ed but would never get a +). I had a CD21 progesterone check; the results proved me right and I moved on to RSofNY for testing/monitored cycle.
Then:
* 2 IUIs on clomid--made 3-4 follies, thin lining
* 3rd IUI on clomid--MF started to look like an issue, resulted in a CP
* Spent 2 months trying to get back on track after CP
* Did first IVF. San Roman did a poor job of monitoring and responding with medication adjustments; lead follies overmatured--BFN. This was also when I started acupuncture and herbs.
* May 2011 we did a natural cycle while shopping for a new doctor--BFN.
* June 2011 I did a letrozole (femara) IUI with Dr. Mukherjee at RMA, but I didn't really respond well to the medication--BFN
* July/August I tried IVF with Dr. Mukherjee. He did more testings (genetics, virus tighters, thyroid, etc.) He put me on lupron, menopur, and follistim. Defying logic, I made even fewer follies than the first time even though I was on double the medication. Only 2 matured while the others stalled out, and my IVF was converted to an IUI--BFN.
8/31: Day 2 baseline monitoring appt
I had a follicle leftover, but the bloodwork showed it wasn't going to interfere.
Letrozole 7.5mg
Follistim 300iu
Menopur 2 vials
9/3: 4th days of stims
I have 2 follies under 10 on the right, 3 under 10 on the left, and 2 that are measuring between 13-15. The old follie is collapsing.
Follistim 300iu
Letrozole 7.5mg
Menopur 2 vials
* Starting fertility yoga again today
9/5: 6th days of stims (next monitoring appt)
7 follies on the left: 2 around 10, 3 around 13, and 2 measuring 15
4 follies on the right: 2 around 10 and 2 measuring 13. Let's hope the ALL keep growing (instead of what happened last time)

9/8: 9th day of stims
So it looks like I have 4 20s and 3 more big ones coming in around 17-18 plus some 14s and a bunch of smaller follies. I feel hopeful and relieved. I was so worried after the last attempt was a flop and I didn't even get to go through with it. I trigger tonight and ER is Saturday morning. Yay!
9/10/11
I went in for my ER. Everyone at RMA was so nice! Dr. Klein (who is kind of hot, btw) did the procedure. When I came out they told me they retrieved 15 eggs. FIFTEEN! I don't know, maybe that doesn't sound like such a big deal, but I'm the girl who only made 9 eggs with the first IVF and then only made 2 follies at my 2nd attempt over the summer and had to convert the cycle. Unbelievable--feeling some optimism for the first time in I don't even know how long, months?

They called me with the fert. report and I have ELEVEN fertilized embryos    Transfer is tentatively set for Tuesday but maybe pushed to blast on Thursday. We'll see!
9/13/11
So they did a day 3 transfer. I lot of my embies are doing so hot, but I did have 2 beautiful 8-cell embies, one of which was already "compacting" (apparently a day 4 process) that they put back in. That's what counts. Now I'm crossing everything for good news on 9/24 (my beta).
I did manage to circumvent PIO with its medieval needles. For the 2WW I'm on:
Medrol (anti-inflammatory steriod)
antibiotic (7 days)
Prometrium 400mg
Endometrin 200mg
Afraid to hope, but feeling hopeful!

I POAS on a whim--BFN. Start the process of bracing myself for the beta.
9/24/11
Beta day: BFN
None of my other embryos were good enough to freeze, so for my second IVF I walk away for the second time with nothing to show for it after we struggled all July and August just to make the follies but had to start over in September. I have to change doctors again because going into the city or trying to pull off their crazy monitoring hours i n Garden City is just too hard.
Consult with Dr. Brenner at LI IVF on the 10th. I'm starting to consider the possibility that this may never happen, and it makes me so profoundly sad.
I have my first appointment to start talking to a shrink because I feel like I'm losing my goddamn mind.
