Blood Work after Miscarriage

So I had a full physical done yesterday and informed my PCP that I had a miscarriage in July. After he told me how great all my regular blood work was and how healthy I am, he informed me that he was a little concerned that I had a miscarriage. He ordered 14 more viles of blood to be tested. He only told me he was testing for "clotting issues" and to see if my HCG has gone down to 0. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ELSE HE IS TESTING? TIA!

Anyone recommend an OBGYN that they are in love with? My PCP told me that my OB should have looked into this and done some blood work. TIA

Re: Blood Work after Miscarriage

When I told my gyn that my hubby and I were going to try she sent me for tons of blood work and everything was on there. I think they took 14 vials for me too. It tested for genetic factors, your immunizations to make sure you don't need any boosters, and a bunch of other stuff. I wouldn't worry about it..I think it's good to have just to make sure everything is in order.

Re: Blood Work after Miscarriage

Because a miscarriage is so common, most OBs don't test until you have had at least 2 miscarriages.

I have had 2 miscarriages and had full testing down and they didn't find anything. It was just bad luck

They are probably testing you for a thrombophilia (clotting disorders- although the full panel is abour 30 vials of blood), markers for antiphospholipid syndrome, MTHFR Gene Mutation, and maybe thyroid.

If you are happy with your OB, I wouldn't switch just yet. Many OBs don't test for anything after 1 miscarriage.

Good luck!
