Re: bleeding - with twins?

I had placenta previa in the beginning of my pregnancy and was bleeding very heavy. I would still call the doctor to double check.

Re: bleeding - with twins?

Call for am emergency appointment. I bled for both of my previous pregnancies. I lost the first one and the second was caused by a subchorionic hematoma (common with IVF, if you used that, too) and everything was fine. If your doc won't see you and it doesn't stop in a couple hours- i'd personally go to the ER.

With my boys, I had a subchronic hematoma and bled from weeks 5 -12 of my pregnancy. It was extremely scary, but both babies were fine. Call your dr and see if you can get there today! FM me if u have any questions.

ITA with this. It could be nothing serious ... but it also could be something more, and may be treatable.

I agree with PP's call your OB for an emergency appointment. If they can't see you and you are still concerned then I would go to the ER.

I spotted early in pregnancy 4 weeks and 6 weeks and although it was very little and brown I went in to make sure everything was ok.

thank you everyone. we went for a sono and both babies were okay for now. they basically said that it can go either way with the bleeding, but things look good for the time being.

Re: bleeding - with twins?

Thank you again. i had a lot more bleeding yesterday and last night, so i'm still not convinced that everything is okay with the babies. sorry for TMI but blood was basically pouring out with clots and everything. it was really frightening. i'm just not sure what to think, but i go back in a week.

Re: bleeding - with twins?

Could it be a hematoma or something like that? I would insist on follow-up sooner too.

Re: bleeding - with twins?

thank you. to answer the questions they didnt do any bloodwork there. the doctor said it was "subchorionic bleeding" and she could see where it was coming from. when would you ask to be seen again? i was seen yesterday and she told me to come back in a week so that would be on tuesday for the next appointment. i haven't really had much cramping just mild cramps here and there.

When I had very bad bleeding, I was told to take it easy and stay off my feet as much as possible. I actually took 3 days off from work to stay in bed, because I was very nervous!!!!!!!

Re: bleeding - with twins?

If it's from a hematoma, you will bleed out the clot and then you'll most likely be fine. She probably wants to check to see if it got smaller. A clot is often the case with subchorionic bleeding.

ETA: I do advise you to really take it easy until you go back. When I had this issue I was told to go on pelvic rest (no sex/stimulation whatsoever) and stay off my feet as much as possible.Chat Icon

not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but all of last week i was bleeding pretty heavily with clots and just streams of blood when i went to the bathroom. i was sure that we lost at least one baby if not both.

i went to my appointment this morning prepared with water-resistant mascara and to my incredible surprise, both babies were there with beautiful beating hearts and tiny little arm and leg bugs. they both grew appropriately and were measuring similarly so it looks like for now things are okay

the clot is still there and very large, but it got smaller from last week so that is hopeful.

if my sweet little babies can get through this past week of horrible bleeding then i am hopeful that they can get through anything!

thanks to anyone who has been reading. i hope to be on the boards a bit more now that i am not so afraid!

Crashing here, but I wanted to share that my BFF had a large subchorionic hematoma with her last pregnancy and basically bled throughout her pregnancy. By the end of the 2nd trimester it was a lot less, but before that, she kept thinking she was losing the baby. It was very stressful for her, but everything went beautifully with the pregnancy and her baby is now 1 1/2 years old! I hope everything continues to go well with both babies! Chat Icon
