Do you think a cold cut platter, tortellini alfredo and salad would be good enough for 15 people for a Sunday afternoon party? It's just family.

I was also thinking maybe some fresh fruit.

Anything I should add?

I think you're fine! I'd probably do a hero instead of cold cut platter, but you know your crowd best. Fresh fruit would be a nice addition but all in all, you're good. Chat Icon

Sounds good!
I might swap the tortellini alfredo for a baked ziti or something only because I know a bunch of people who don't like alfredo sauce- but again, you know your crowd.
But yes, the cold cuts, a pasta dish and a salad are great

Agree about Alfredo. I like the idea of cold cut platters or sandwich/wrap platters. There is always something on a hero that people don’t like.

Yeah that would be ok.
But if you want a hot dish- what about tortellini with marinara sauce or a baked ziti?

See, I thought I was the only one on the "alfredo is nasty" train.
I see I am not alone though.
That's surprising

Not surprising. I didnt start eating it until about a year ago. I grew up hating it.

Stupid question but does the cold cut platter come with fixings for making sandwiches? I would say that plus tortellini salad and green salad is great. My family doesn't go crazy food wise so it would be perfect for us.

I would provide lettuce tomato and onion as well as rolls.

I figured this way people can make their sandwich the way they would like it instead of it being premade.

I dont know if a cold cut platter is a stupid idea now? Am I better off just getting heros

Stick to the cold cut platters. I absolutely despise premade heroes but love platters of cold cuts and I can do my own thing.

Re: Birthday party food

I would do a wrap platter, a cold tortellini salad (replacing the green salad), and maybe a warm dish (chicken francese or something chicken). I like warm food at parties, but that’s just me.

Is anyone a vegetarian?

I would prefer to make my own sandwich. Most people would. Get a variety of rolls and it would be awesome! better than a hero that gets all soggy as leftovers and not everyone will agree on...

If you have the fixings to make a full sandwich I think you're fine. I thought you were just kinda serving meats/cheese and maybe crackers which I'm not sure would have been filling enough with what else you have. But as long as everyone can have a sandwich (or not if they don't want one) then I think you're good to stick with the cold cut platter.

Another vote for sticking with the platter. As long as you put out good rolls and a few different fixings I would totally prefer that to a hero. I really dislike the premade wrap platters.

Not a fan of premade wraps either because they always sneak in something I don't like like a gross cheese or feta or something.

Sounds good. I prefer the cold cut platter to the premade sandwiches. Just make sure you have good rolls, fixings, and condiments. I'd add something like a quiche or zucchini pie as well.

I agree.

I also like having a hot dish and not a fan of swapping the tortellini for another cold tortellini dish. I would leave it as is. But that is my preference.

ETA: I prefer heroes because I always find it a pain in the butt to make my own sandwich at a party. Like i have a plate, napkins, utensils and now I have assemble food. Im just awkward. But I would leave the platter because people are picky and they can select what they want.

No vegetarians......I am trying to switch up the food a little because we have christmas and thanksgiving where we always have the same penne al vodka and same chicken francaise dish.

That's why I figured Alfredo but since some said no to Alfredo I figured maybe a cold pasta salad.
