Food for a birthday party?

I am getting overwhelmed and confused trying to plan two birthday parties.

Jack is turning three in June, and Tyler will be one in October.

For Jack's party we only have immediate family (which is 50 adults, 20 kids) I am SO sick of doing a BBQ for his birthday and hate that DH has to stand there cooking all day. What else can I serve for a summer birthday?

We are going to have a kiddie party with the kids from Jack's school so I think for that I will just do pizza for everyone.

For Tylers birthday we will have about 150 adults, and 60 kids. We will have a petting zoo come to the house since it's good for the different ages of kids that we have. What kind of food would you serve for this party? I'm thinking heros, ziti, chicken parm, sausage and peppers, but WHAT ELSE?

You could do a fiestaChat Icon for Jack. We did that for the family reunion dinner we cooked last year and it was super easy and people like sangria and mexican food...

I am a pizza convert though. We are doing pizza for C3's family party.

For Tyler, I'd go with the Italian theme and just look at the menu someplace and pick some good things off there Chat Icon

We did a 7 layer dip, guac and another chips and dip appetezier

For food, we did straight up tacos with all of the fixings and quesdillas.

This year (we are doing the same thing again) we are going to do steak and chicken fajithas

Or you could call a mexican place and see if they cater. But it was SO easy to do, I am NOT a chef and I did all of the cooking myself

ooh, i really really like this. A little make your own taco and fahita table. I think this is what I'm going to do.

Some guac and salsa on each table.

We got a lot of good feedback on it. I mean, most parties are the same stuff, so this was a lot of funChat Icon

I like the Mexican idea!

If you still wanted to do BBQ I'd totally hire a caterer to come do instead of you guys grilling, esp. for that many people! That's why (for a crowd 1/2 Jack's size) last year for C's party I said ONLY hotdogs (b/c it fit the theme Chat Icon ) when DH wanted to do BBQ foods-- I didn't want him stuck at the grill the whole time.

loved your hot dog theme, only problem is my one cousin is anti hotdogs so that wouldn't fly for her family of five Chat Icon

Chat Icon What's she not like about them? We had regular hotdogs as well as organic, nitrate-free hotdogs for the kids Chat Icon

she hates everything about them, since we were little kids, and makes sure that her three boys don't eat them either. My uncle gave one of her boys a pig in the blanket once....she didn't talk to him for weeksChat Icon
