Bills - what am I missing
Sorry if this has been asked before.
There's a big difference between a co-op and house so I know that I am not taking a few things into consideration...can you all help me fill in the blanks. For an average home on LI (I know they vary - but just for a sense):
Oil - $350/month
LIPA - $150/month
Water - ?
Am I missing something? Are the numbers about right?

2 water bills if you have city sewer - 1 is about $30 a month and the other is $30 a quarter
Cable - $139
Phone - $80 (a lot of overseas calls)
Insurance - $1,200 a year
LIPA - $200 p.m. Summer and Winter (we have CAC)
Keyspan - $300 p.m. Winter - $60 in Summer
Termite Control contract - $350 a year
Boiler contract - $230 a year
ETA: Cost of and additional bills

For us oil is about $450/mo..Lipa is about $130 and water is $6 quarterly.
Add in landscaper about $120/mo alarm system if you are having one.

Oil is different than gas. I have gas - so here are my monthly bills:
LIPA - 194
Keyspan - 133
Cablevision phone, cable, TV - 145
Water - like 10 a month
I think that is all. We have an alarm - so I have that payment. Home insurance.

are you guys on the budget plan? and can I get that if I rent?

I am on the budget plan. I had to pay about 600 at the end of last year.

I am on the budget plan. I had to pay about 600 at the end of last year.
yikes- I will stick to the regular monthy bill I get- I don't like surprises

WOW, why is everyone's oil bills soooo high?? I am on budget and pay 12 months out of the year. I pay $140/month.
Mortgage-600.00
Taxes-430.00
Insurance-55.00
(I just took my taxes and insurance OUT of my mortgage payment so "I" can get the interest, NOT the bank)
lipa-91.00
oil-140.00
water-7.00
cable/phone/internet-130.00

in addition to the regular bills I would add a home "surprise" category. Like surprise the fan for our central air broke and it would have cost us $350 to replace but it is under warranty so I think we will only be charged the $50 for the service guy to show up, hopefully this afternoon  . But if the machine is broken, then it will be 2,500 for a new central air unit.

No, what we pay when we get a fill up. I negoiate the price every season and we pay in full, we get filled up every few months.

Thanks for posting this Scott - we're looking at capes in Wantagh, so I'm hoping our bills will be similar to yours!
One question, your homeowner's insurance seems really reasonable - do you you have a rider on that for your wife's jewelry (e-ring, wedding band?) We're in a co-op now and my insurance went from barely anything to a good amt after we added my jewelry

My wifes jewerly is still on my parents policy - I have to take it off - thanks for reminding me.
N Wantagh which is levittown schools water bill is usually higher than Levittown for some reason...
