BF moms- Do you eat peanutbutter/nuts
I know doctors differ on whether you should have nuts while breastfeeding. No one can seem to agree whether eating them or avoiding them decreases a chance of peanut allergy in your child. Our pediatrician told me to avoid, which I have, but I really love peanutbutter! Just wondering what others are doing?

I have a PBJ for breakfast usually twice a week (and I think I had one almost every day when I was pregnant!).

I ate it when bf'ing ds and also do now when bf'ing dd. My ds has been eating peanut butter since he was a little over a year and has had no problems.

I eat it every now and then. I definitely don't avoid it...didn't during pregnancy either.

see now I don't know what to do. I ate it all the time when I was pregnant. I miss having it, peanutbutter is such a quick source of protein! I wonder if it makes a difference if I start now since I haven't exposed her at all up until this point.

My pediatrician recommends avoiding it. I did avoid it for 2 or 3 months. I decided that since there is no family history of nut allergies and the advice is controversial, I'd eat peanut butter again. I ate it throughout my entire pregnancy and now eat it fairly often.

The only things the ped said to avoid for me was a lot of dairy and leafy greens. I've had peanut butter a couple of times with toast for breakfast with no problems. I also had PBJs throughout the pregnancy.

I limited it but didnt completely avoid it... i did skip it during preg more because it aggrivated my heartburn

If there isn't anyone in your family with a nut allergy, then I really wouldn't worry.
I eat it fairly often.

If you are worried about peanut butter I highly recommend Sunbutter...SOOOOO GOOOD!
It is made out of sunflower seeds instead of peanuts. My friend gives it to her peanut allergic son and I found it at my regular grocery store (in the natural section).
