I think when you turn things into "sides" thats when things get personal. maybe thats the problem. It shouldn't be this way but i've never felt or seen it more than with this election that it was like a line was drawn in the sand and people took sides to the extreme to the point that there was a sense of HATRED, and it goes BOTH ways, if the other party disagreed with your vote or opinion. There was alot of tension with this past election. I can understand feeling like maybe someone may be a little misguided because when we believe something so strongly we sometimes grow blinders & it's hard for us to understand why others don't see things our way...but to be condescending, call names, lose friends and family over it is crazy to me. It shouldn't turn into "them vs us" or "the other side". I think THAT kind of thinking is what divides a country...more than any president or presidential election ever can or will.

Good for her, I cannot TELL you the ish I have been hearing from Mitt supporters. Most of it is downright nasty. I have actually been called a moron on Facebook by a relative for voting for Obama. If they can dish it out, they should be able to take it. (and I know this does not apply TO ALL Romney supporters)
the people following her tumblr are her FANS. people who pay good money for her albums, merchandise, concerts etc... It seems stupid to me that she would post something like that knowing full well it would be offensive to some of her fans voting for romney. If someone calls you a moron for voting a certain way...single THAT PERSON out...but to imply that people who voted a different way than you are "*******" or "mitches" or any variation of something condescending is totally uncalled for. She comes off as a child who can't handle that other people in the world have different views than her.
i was just using that as ONE example, specific to me but it is happening countless times over to me and everyone who voiced their support of Obama. I am not saying I was right, or they were wrong. Yes, she is a celebrity but she is still an American who has a voice and is allowed to speak her opinion, even if it is not in the most tactful way. My point was with the backlash of HATRED for those who supported Obama, the likes of which I have never seen anything like before, she is no different (not better, just not different) than those on the other side. She should not have to be remorseful for her comment bc, honestly, in this specific instance, it is far less hateful than what I have been privy too for being an Obama supporter. Plus, I highly doubt that Beyonces demographic were made up of a whole lot of Romney supporters (and I don't mean that in terms of race before someone goes there). I am not saying it was the right or wrong thing to do, or that she went about it in the best way, but she is also just a regular person caught up in this mess. Point being, to get sh!t for "take that Mitches" is ridiculous in comparison to the outright FOUL things those who supported Obama have been on the receiving end of, it is mild in comparison, even from some of our friends and family.

I'm just saying it goes both ways. you're gonna get A-holes no matter what, both sides of the fence. Just yesterday I saw an obama supporter call a romney supporter a scumbag bc he said "we can kiss this country goodbye" Do I agree with his comment? no...but to call him a scumbag? it's not right...we are entitled to our opinions and people are taking it way too personally. My own uncle defriended me on FB because he didn't like something my husband posted in support of romney. He told my husband to "do his homework" which to me was very rude. When I defended my husband and said we had done our homework and gave specific reasons as to why we felt the way we did...he got upset that I spoke up and he defriended me...Why did my husband not deserve respect but he did? this is a grown man in his 50's, mind you...he's an asshole. I don't think less of you for supporting obama, nor do i think you deserve less respect for it...so as someone who didn't vote for obama...I don't expect to be treated with disrespect and I think thats the way it should be.

I find it funny that they are being praised in the media as being hurricane sandy "angels" simply because they bought a generator large enough to power the entire building THEY LIVE IN. meanwhile people who don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of are coming up with bags upon bags of stuff to donate.
Such a shame bc I like jay Z...although...not sure where his head is at lately...bey has got him in the clouds with her.

it totally is. This election I felt like you could cut the tension with a knife. The divisiveness made me feel like we were on the verge of a modern day civil war (slight exaggeration...but i'm kinda serious here) And sadly yes, you got to see some of the UGLY and racist come out of people...it's an unfortunate truth in this country that it still exists. I don't think it will ever go away. But not every voter is basing their vote on that and even the racism goes both ways...

I am very glad Obama won but I didnt see any point in gloating about it. After being called a bleeding heart liberal DAILY by my boss as he prodded & goaded me for my political views, I didn't say one word about the election. So for him, it has LESS to do with his choice of candidate than the way he acted. I wouldn't call him a MITCH but a few other options cross my mind.
For Beyonce to put it out on social media was stupid but it certainly wasn't the stupidest thing I've seen from celebs.

I feel the same way.
I have been called some horrible things for the vote I cast. I'm so grateful to those people for alerting me as to how ignorant I am and accusing me of wanting my country to fail But THIS is classless? Not really. Much much worse is being said on the other side.

Meh-I think its funny. Maybe I am classless and immature. "I have 99 Problems, but a Mitt Aint One"....that is entertaining.
I like to joke around though, so if people wanted to make an Obama joke, I would laugh. My father likes to text me about how he has "Romnesia" and he HATES Obama. I also texted my dad the other day and told him I was calling from inside of a binder. I get how it offended people, but that doesn't offend me at all.

I'm sorry I think too many people need to grow up and get some respect in general. Many of these celebrities seem to have lost their brain (be it a big or small one doesn't matter) and should be held to a higher standard. Just because free speech says you are entitled to say FU or call someone b***** etc doesn't mean it is smart or the acceptable OR the right thing to do. Since they are celebrities their comments will be repeated and reprinted over and over no matter how right or how stupid the comments are. There is nothing wrong with saying glad my choice won but if she called a losing sports team that same thing I think people would be up in arms. It glories for those who do listen to someone like that and continues that mentality. Who follows someone like that? Younger people who might not think for themselves or who look up to people like that. Shame she couldn't take the opportunity to comment responsibly. Hate or ignorant comments breed hate/etc. No matter the side. The more outrageous the comment the more people post positive or negative on their sites and on boards like this one.
I have had to listen to weeks of immaturity and stupidity. If you voted for Obama you were trying to get the country to fail or you didn't do your research and were ignorant (could go on and on). If you voted or supported Romney you were ignorant/racist/women hater/selfish (this is only a small sample of comments made). Really people should be embarrassed and grow up. I think many people have lost their common sense and need to relearn their manners. Everyone throws around that people should not bully etc. What do they call the name calling on both sides. Two wrongs don't make a right. It seems that people have forgotten that the world is not black and white. Having different points of view IS important and someone who doesn't share yours is not ignorant/racist or whatever the new thing/term is. I miss when people would simply say I like x because of xyz, no need to hit below the belt. Also the gang mentality is horrible on both sides. I remember when you could have great debates with people from different backgrounds and it was exciting and interesting how people viewed things. Now it seemspeople forget that there are people from other walks of life who are entitled to have or see things differently. This goes for both sides. Very very sad. Sometimes it seems that if you don't like the color yellow or orange whatever it is that day that there is either something wrong with you or you are uninformed or however you want to spin it.
Sorry for the rant just between all the thrwads here, all the facebook posts it is just sad.
