Delivered at LIJ and had a wonderful experience. If you deliver vaginally though, I think you are most likely going to be in a 4-person room (won't necessarily be all full though) unless you pay for a private room.

My SIL and friend just delivered there. Both were C-sections. My SIL had a private room because the babies are in the NICU. My friend was in a double.

Nursing staff and residents were wonderful.

Ditto. I had a private room b/c Abby was a NICU baby. The NICU at Schneider is connected through a back hallway on the maternity floor.

Id never deliver anywhere else. I hope to G-d nobody here ever needs NICU services, but its good to have the best there is at Schneider if you do need it. Their staff (especially nursing) is top notch.

Re: best hospitals to deliver in?

i will be delivering at Huntington Hospital and have heard good things about them.

i woudl ask your sister WHY she doesn't like your hospital. as a dr. or a nurse, or other health employee, she has insights on things the general public does not. i would take advice from a medical professional, but if it's things like you don't necessarily get a private room or there are no flat screen TVs... to me, that's not important. the most important thing is the quality of the staff and the cleanliness of the hospital, IMO

I just had my baby there last week and it was fabulous. I really felt like I was on a little vacation (I have a toddler at home). The facility was so nice and I loved ordering off a menu for every meal. The first night I was there, there was a knock at the door and it was the concierge service. He had a little bag of shampoo, toothpaste, etc. It was wonderful.

I did ask her, and her concerns were that 1) she felt the hospital was VERY short-staffed 2) wasn't particularly well-run and 3) had issues with the staff quality. I didn't want to mention the name of the hospital b/c I don't want to offend anyone.

Thank you to all the ladies that answered; your info is a huge help!!!
