I'm not being snarky or anything here ( I swear) but can you explain how you came to that conclusion? I TOTALLY did not pick up on any of this!! I'm apparently more clueless at times than I'd like to think!

Can you please explain how it is racist? I really don't see how this is racist.
It's basically saying -- So many people said it couldn't be done and we proved them wrong, but using the swine flu outbreak as an attempt at humor. You could use it for any situation -- Kara, we thought the day you'd clean your closet out would be the day pigs fly. You finally get around to it and BAM, swine flu!
ETA -- I'm trying to understand if you are taking umbrage with the notion that people thought it would be nearly impossible for an African American to be President of the USA or if you are misunderstanding the "when pigs fly" saying or something else entirely... or are you somehow seeing this as calling Obama a pig? Honestly, I REALLY cannot see how this is racist.

We have an African American president. That does not mean that every joke made about him or against him is racist. When you take it there - when you can't make a joke about a president BECAUSE he's African American - you MAKE it racist, IMO.
There are jokes made about every single political figure out there. This isn't new!! Didn't anyone get the national celibacy day message 4 years ago (no Bush no D*ck)? Maybe not since he won... but I got it!
Obama's being AA doesn't make him special. The fact that he's left handed makes him special.

I could see people being offended by it, but I honestly went and thought it was funny. Like Kara said, it could be applied to anything, they just decided to make it about the President rather than some other famous person.

Ok, fine, I agree racist isn't the *best* word to use. Offensive probably would have been better, not funny too, and definitely not Best. Facebook. Status. Ever. She thinks though, so also fine.
The real thing that is mostly bothering me that it is fine to make fun of so many people and so many things. When did this become ok? When did it become ok to bash so many things in so many ways? This isn't the only post either, there are SO many. How about we post a thread of pictures of ourselves and bash each other, would that be ok?
The snarky remark about the head scratch didn't help either. That just set the ball rolling.

I definitely think its one of those kinds of jokes it depends on how you read it. I can see how people think its one way -- but the people who sent it to me -- lets just say they are known for sending very off-color jokes about Obama's presidency, so I read it in that other light vs. the one that some are seeing here.

I tend to agree with Tilde. I don't personally see it as derogatory -- I just saw it as a clever play on words. I guess people could think it was off-color, but I don't see it. (Please correct me if I am wrong and missing something big. This is the first time I'm hearing it. I didn't think "offensive" when I first read it...)
