Being a Passenger in a car
Does anyone have 'issues' with it?
I have a big problem with it - it is not that I do not trust the driver - but I am soooooooooo paranoid that I am going to be in an accident.
I really think I need to see someone to help me with this. It is really a problem.

sometimes.....it depends on who's driving
it also doesn't help that i've been in 2 head on collisions.

Re: Being a Passenger in a car
I do. I always have to drive. I'll drive other people's cars if they'll let me.
DH is the worst driver EVER so he hardly is behind the wheel. I am scared for my life when he drives.

Re: Being a Passenger in a car
i hate the way dh drives and he hate the way i drives...so we have to come to the conclusion that we need to take seperate cars.
he drives like a typical new yawker and i drive like an a**hole. omg, i just admit it! maybe we can make progress on this issue.

When my mom drives yes..The worst is when she races up to a stop sign then slams on her brakes to a complete stop and then sits there for an eternity! I always get sick when I'm in the car with her.

Re: Being a Passenger in a car
OMG I am the same way! Its one of my biggest fears. I can ride with dh ok because I tell him to watch out every 2 minutes although I think it makes it worse.
I refuse to ride with certain people who I know dont drive well..according to me maybe. Most times, I just wont accept the ride because I am so nervous. For some reason, it just keeps getting worse and worse. It makes me so nervous that when I get out of the car, I am so sick and nervous. Now I am even more nervous since the baby is in the car.

Actually I am 100% worse since Ali was born. I don't know what to do. I really need to see someone - but I don't even know where to start. I think I have a fear of dying in a car accident. I see brake lights on the car in front of us and I cringe. The car can be lengths in front of us.

Re: Being a Passenger in a car
I was rear-ended in July. Since then, I've been very anxious and convinced that the other cars on the road are going to drive into me. It's a little better when I'm the driver.
I've been in more than a few accidents and they've never phased me before.
Do you think costs for any treatment for this could be covered under my car insurance stuff related to the accident?

Marcie, I have HUGE problems with this exact issue. I was just saying to JT that I think I need help with it, too. I am CONVINCED that I am going to die in an accident while someone else is driving me.

I've could have written this post. I jump, I breathe heavy, my chest starts to hurt. It's HORRIBLE, and it drives DH crazy because I'm always watch here, look there, move over.
I jump/startle a LOT and he says I'm going to make him crash one day, because I scare the living daylights out of him. I've tried to explain to him that it is something I cannot control.
who would you go see about this?

Re: Being a Passenger in a car
Since having Luka it's so bad that everytime DH breaks on any road I turn around to check how far the car is behind us. The only time I am really a passanger is when DH drives and I never had an issue before. The worst is when it rains. My heart begins to race and I need to remind my self to stay calm.

I react like that. DH hates it, but he makes me so paranoid. He has let me drive a lot more recently because of it. I prefer to drive.
