Bedtime routine for 2, especially with a large age gap
I'm having a hard time in the evenings with my 2 kids (6yo and 8 mo). My six year old takes a shower, reads for 15 mins, and if time before 8:30 will watch tv until 8:30. My 8 month old is another story. I don't really have a routine for him. He was going to bed around 730/8 but I think it's getting much later and interfering with my older ds time. I am all alone at night because my husband works late into the evening so by the time I give the little one a bath it is 7 and then he gets a bottle. I haven't been reading to him which I feel guilty about and kinda just putting him in the crib. That was working until this week and he is refusing to go down. Tonight he went to bed at 10! Any suggestions??? Tia

Create a routine and stick to it. An 8 mo old can easily go to bed by 6:30/7. I'd do that so you can spend some one-on-one time with your older one before putting him/her to bed.

Re: Bedtime routine for 2, especially with a large age gap
When I am home with my 3 (6,5, and 1). I usually give them all a bath older ones than younger one. Then I will read to the older 2 while baby plays around and is happy after bath. Then I tuck 2 boys into bed and do lullabies. Then put baby down.

I'd disagree that all 8 month olds can go to bed that early. DS never would have gone to bed that early. At 8 months old he probably went to bed around 9:30pm. As he got older, he went to bed earlier (then it got later again), but never earlier than 7:30/8pm.
