Yes, and after a year of trying each time someone asks me when we're going to have one or TELLS me that I should be trying ("You are almost 31, you know!") I almost feel like unloading my whole TTC drama on them to make them feel like sh!t.
But usually I just smile and say "It's not the time yet."
see? i tell them our issues -- if only to make the person feel like absolute sh*t
We have TTC issues, and occasionaly we'll get the dumb family member that'll say, "With all the babies in the family, you guys better catch up."
Then I unload our stuff on them and it shuts them up

a few Aunts keep asking us when we are going to give James a brother or sister....Dh tells them...When you fork over the $$ for their college tutition.

or
"We want to wait until I'm 40."
That usually shut them up for a little while.

ugh..totally agree, I hate when people ask me this....they're nosey...they can't help themselves.
Although I'm ready and would be happy to get preggo, its still SO annoying for everyone to ask... MIND YA BUSINESS..what the hell is the rush?
why the hell is it anyone's business?

Here's something horrifying...I had a friend who's dad said if she had a 3rd baby, he would pay for the extension on her house and college tuition. Can you imagine your parents bribing you to have children???
Here's a perfect reason NOT to ask personal questions for people - in the middle of a meeting, someone asked my SIL how her baby was doing.
After an awkward moment of silence, she was stumbling over her words as she said "Not good."
The person responded "Yeah, not sleeping through the night is tough. He should be doing that soon. Wait until they start crawling around."
She was able to choke out, "Nicholas was born stillborn."
I'm pretty sure that guy won't be asking anyone personal questions again.

First, I am sorry for your SIL and family. 
That is insane- bribing your kids for grandchildren.

Holy Cow I can relate hun. I was married 7 years before we got preggo(now 3 weeks away from our little miracle). People need to mind their own business!!!

This is why I NEVER asked people that question and never will. For all you know, you are asking someone who's been trying a long time and having problems, and what a reminder that must be!

I know! Its so personal. Not a conversation for casual acquaintances- of even casual friends. I know I didn't tell many people when DH and I were TTC in case we had trouble.

See, that's a tough one though. If I knew someone was pregnant and I was seeing them for the first time, I would totally ask how the baby was. I would feel rude not to ask.
So I can see his question being asked out of kindness, even though it's a horrible situation your SIL went through.

So I can see his question being asked out of kindness, even though it's a horrible situation your SIL went through.
She understands that it was meant to be nice. I probably shouldn't have posted it bc really it doesn't pertain to this thread since it is a basic personal question someone would ask.
I think it's more that I dread going to this baby shower with her because I fear one of the people that DON'T know the situation may ask her or think they're just being friendly when they ask when is she having a baby or why don't you have kids yet...

I totally understand.
I share an office with a woman around my age who got married a month before me and people are always asking us when we are going to get pregnant.
As hard as it is for me to handle that question, she had uterine cancer and had to have a hysterectomy. She's decided not to tell people, but I cringe every time someone says something to us.
