How are you making the bottles? Can you slowly wean her onto room temperature?

That's my goal! I'm gonna buy a Brita water pitcher that's just for her bottles which I'll keep on the counter at room temp. I'm thinking in the AM, I'll fill all her bottles with the # of ounces she is drinking and then just scoop the powder into the bottles when its feeding time. Does powder easily dissolve in room temperature water or does it get clumpy?

this is exactly what I did for both boys - I never had to worry about where I was or when I had to give them a bottle.

I used Gerber Good start which would dissolve MUCH easier in room temp water than cold. I used a bottle warmer. It was easy for us. Now that DS just switched to whole milk, he actually drinks it cold.

That's another reason why I never heated up DD's bottles. Room temp water almost every time.

same here.... we only did room temp. that's why we always did powder formula, so much easier. If we gave premixed, it was the indivisual bottles cause we were traveling or got samples, so they were room temp too.

I did it all the time to get the chill out, just a few seconds in and shook it like crazy

So did I with my first.

With the next 2 they just got used to room temp bottles.

I just kinda think that sounds lazy and not worth the risk. I know heating up a bowl of water and letting it sit in there for a bit takes a few minutes longer, but the baby is better off. I do that for the little girl I babysit, not just because scalding her mouth would make me feel AWFUL if it did happen, but I've also heard that microwaves kill the nutrients. Not that it will kill the child, but it's just better for them, so why get lazy with it?

Never had an issue with clumps.

Same. Always used room temperature water.

same here, just about 10 seconds or so to get that refrigerator chill out, the milk was still cold though.

Im with you! I don't think microwaving for a few seconds is a huge deal (although you know your own micro some are VERY powerful and even 10 seconds will get milk super hot) . That being said I felt paranoid putting the bottles themselves in the micro. So since My little one would scream like a terror for her bottle during nighttime feedings I started give it to her (expressed BM) straight from the fridge. Much to my MIL"s horror! And btw, I do have a bottle warmer but a minute is even a long time when a baby is screaming her head off and you don't want her to wake up your toddler who is a light sleeper-- so cold milk it was!

Re: Be honest! How bad is it.....

We did not use the microwave at all for bottles. I had a bottle warmer and usually used boiling water to heat breastmilk. I normally nursed in the middle of the night though.

My friend used to microwave her bottles for 15 seconds or so. At the time, I could not believe she did that. In hindsight, I do not think it is a big deal.

My kids are now 4 and 6. Older son likes warm milk. I throw a cup of milk into the microwave for 20 seconds. This works fine for us . DS is 6 years old though.

I used RTF. The first week, I think I boiled water to put the bottle in. Then, I ran it under hot water from the tap.

Finally, one night he was screaming so bad, I gave it cold, right out of the fridge. He drank it happily and I never warmed another bottle. Freshly opened cans were room temp, bottles in the fridge were cold. He had no problem with either.

Here's a tip that may work for you. I still do it with baby #3
I scoop the powder into the empty dry bottles and store them sealed. When he's ready to eat, I heat the water in the microwave in a Pyrex measuring cup for 10 seconds, then pour it into the bottle with the powder already measured out.

Btw, he drinks room temp, too. I only heat for mixing with cereal.
