BBT vs OPK
Hello Ladies: I have been actively TTC for 2 months. I started BBT last cycle and found out I ovulate on day 19. That was helpful but did not conceive even though we did the BD on day 17 & 18. Also this means that I have been ovulating late and thinking I was past ovulation when I wasn't. Anyway my question is should I just continue with BBT or try the OPK? I am comfortable with BBT and using fertility friend online. Taking temp while in bed does not bother me or DH. It seems like these OPK are confusing and expensive. Also for those girls who have been charting do you find that you generally ovulate on same day every month? My cycles are between 30-33 days. Baby dust to all.

Re: BBT vs OPK
I always used both when I got PG with my boys, but now I've only been using the OPKs. The OPK's can be frustrating. One month I got at least 2 days, possible 3 days of + OPK's in a row with EWCM (only saying 3 because I'm pretty sure the 3rd day was still +) and then the next month only 1 day of a positive OPK when I normally get at least 2 days. I'm more confused as to why it's so different month after month. LOL!

Re: BBT vs OPK
Well the OPK tells you (24 to 48 hours) before you ovulate and your BBT confirms that you did. Unfortunately BBT can't predict when it's going to happen it just tells you that it happened and usually on FF it's not until around 3 days after the fact.
I can't comment on O'ing the same day every month because I have PCOS and rarely O without medication anyway.
Good luck to you!!

I agree. Since the length of your cycle varies, so does the date you ovulate. This is because the luteal phase (time between when you ovulate and when AF shows) normally does not vary for each person. So keep taking your BBT since that is the only way to CONFIRM you have O'd, but if you want to try to time BDing with your O date, then you can try using the OPK's to help determine with O will be happening.

Re: BBT vs OPK
I use both. Like previous posters said, the OPKs predict O, BBT confirms O.
Good luck!!
