I'm so sorry to hear this.....we are currently living on one salary also because my dh was layed off so i feel you pain.....try to stay positive ....it'll all work out! at least you can collect unemployment

sorry to hear you got layed off. I got layed off at 7/8 months prego with my first daughter. The time in itself was the best thing to have with my daughter in the beginning im not going to lie. If you can negotiate the terms of your getting layed off like I did make sure you negotiage the longevity of your medical benifits being covered that is the least they can do. Then start collecting that unemployment. Im still collecting and on dd#2 and going to school full time and changing my career field which I would never have been able to do if I wasnt layed off. I know it seems horrible right now but once you DC comes along you will feel much better about your situation.

Their excuse that I could not fight for getting layed off was that they eliminated my position. If they say that and do not hire someone in the same position as you they are allowed to let you go without any reason why except for the elimination of that position.

ETA: I got laid off at 8.5 mos pg, while we were in a diff situation and I was thinking of not going back to work, it was still awful, and I'm so sorry you're going through this!!!

are you kidding me?? What kind of BS job would fire a pregnant lady? i would be suspicious that they were firing me BECAUSE I was pregnant and didn't wanna deal with maternity leave, etc. That's definitely illegal too (if that WERE the case).
Do you get unemployment though? I was let go of my job while i was engaged (scary since we obviously had a LOT of wedding payments). But because i was 'let go' rather than fired, I was able to collect unemployment and that lasted a year (because I moved right after the wedding and continued to collect while i looked for work in my new home). Maybe that would help you out. As for insurance though... jeez. Your work place just sounds HORRIBLE to do something like that.
I'm so sorry - this must be such a stressful time. I hope & pray that you & your DH are able to figure it out.
