There are SO SO many false positives with these types of tests. I hope this is just a scary false alarm.

Hopefully your ultrasound shows something different. 1 in 5 is only 20% (if the blood work is even right, mistakes can happen) which means 80% chance your baby is healthy. These things are wrong all the time. Praying that you get some good news

I know what it's like to get bad news  You have plenty of reason to be hopeful here!! Like a pp said, there's a 4/5 chance it will be fine!

So So true ~ I am a previous poster on this board and we had a spina bifida scare ~ have more tests whatever you have to do to make you more comfortable with the answers your receive ~ during our consults If was even suggested maybe terminating my pregnancy might be an option for us ~ In my heart I could not do it (I already was feeling the baby move inside) I had my DD in July and she is healthy so far ~ she is 3 months old right now and doing great.
Lots of thoughts and prayers that you find out all the information you need

This happened to me. I later learned from specialist that there is no point taking a second test but many doctor's do. its just the odds and like others say its still 80% most likely fine.I had two anatomy scans - one early because of the results and another at 20 weeks on time. both showed healthy developing baby. however, they also learned at that time that I had blood clots in the placenta and this could cause abnormal test results. later on my baby was induced a month early (but healthy!)
also, there are soooo many types of spina bifida - some people have it and you 'd never know it!
