Back From the RE
Well, I have to say, it wasn't at all as I expected.
Dr. Hershlag is nice enough but folks it is a business. No warm fuzzies here..but still a nice guy with a ton of knowledge of this stuff.
I didn't get to ask any ?? but we have to get the SA and bloods done on me and I need to have a mammo before we do any procedures.
I had an internal sono and it showed a follicle on my left. I'm going to O on my left side this time.
He forgot to do a Pap even though it was noted.
Funny, he did give me a little hug before I left. I had to laugh.
He said after bloods, mammo and SA we'll meet up again and talk about next steps. He said we will put me on fertility meds to get more eggs or better eggs and do an insemination..I was like..woah! I just want to find out if there's any problem first...can we take it one step at a time? He said we could try an unmedicated insemination.
I told him that I think we just need to be more aggressive about the timing and frequency and he said that "intercourse is old fashioned." Insemination is the way to go.
Wow..just wow..I don't think I would ever expect to hear that phrase come out of anyone's mouth.
I'm 41..I guess no time to waste.

Re: Back From the RE
RE's have one goal and that is to get you PG as quickly as possible. They figure that if you are going to see them, you are serious about getting PG and don't have time to waste. Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress. Your age is going to make the RE want to move quickly with you. You just have to take the plunge and hope for the best.

Re: Back From the RE
Its sometime hard to accept this all at once. But, I'm 40 and I feel that I need to get moving on this (but I was trying for about a year before we went to the RE). So, if he's a little aggressive, it's for your own good. But, it's totally up to you. Meds are not for everyone. But, you'll know better after you get all your testing done what you want to do. Well, I'm glad you are moving forward. We're all here for you and will talk your ear off the whole way. Good luck!!!!!! I don't remember...have you tried acupuncture?

Re: Back From the RE
I have not tried acupuncture. I would like to know more about how it could help.
Also, I have to go for a hystogram or something that shows if my tubes are open...etc..
So I have a lot to do to get started.
I'm planning on getting it all done within a month so I can get started.
Mammo, bloods, hystogram, DH's SA..whew!
he knows my breast doctor..his daughter and my breast surgeon's daughter are friends and went to HS together. I have to give him a call.

Re: Back From the RE
I would say yes, no time to waste. They want to get you pregnant. They have stats to consider.
If you're not ready for meds, I would ask to do an unmedicated IUI and then move to Clomid.
Good luck to you
