I don't really get the snap and go either.
I now own 2 strollers-a single and a double, and I seriously debated before giving in and getting the double with baby 2 on the way

I had several strollers and got plenty of use out of them. Everyone has different needs so while 1 stroller may work for some, others need more strollers.
I found the snap 'n go extremely useful when my kids were in the infant seat. It was so easy and lightweight and made transferring from the car to the stroller seamless. I had another stroller that was pretty lightweight to use after the snap 'n go. Then I had an umbrella stroller that was better for my toddler/preschooler since it was easy to get in and out of. I could've gone without that stroller, but I definitely preferred using it when my kids were more independent. When my oldest was 6 months, I bought a jogging stroller. I thought it was too bulky to use as an everyday stroller to run errands, etc, but it's great for running or walking around the neighborhood and going to places with rough or uneven terrain. I didn't register for 4 strollers, but I've used 4 at different stages.

But, I googled and it looks like a frame for a car seat? Maybe this is a silly question, but wouldn't it just be easier to get a travel system?

I loooooove the snap n go. I have 3 strollers- city mini ft (not a fan), snap n go, and a double. I've used the snap n go the most. It's light, compact, and so easy to use. Literally snap and go. I just traded in my infant seat tonight because my last baby has outgrown it and now I can't use the snap n go anymore 
I'm actually looking for a new stroller that's lightweight like the snap n go with a harness and reclining seat because I dislike my city mini that much and with no infant carrier to carry DD2 and her inability to hold herself up, I'll need to use a stroller much more often.

Ah, gotcha.
I saw your previous post- would you consider an umbrella stroller? The Uppababy GLuxe reclines and has a 5 pt harness. I have a Vista but will likely get one of these sometime soon. The sunshade is amazing!

I could see having 4 strollers.
Full sized stroller like Bugaboo or Uppa Baby
Travel system for a car seat - snap and go or Orbit
Umbrella stroller
And the new strollers that can fold on a plane
I may also want a city mini or jogging stroller too.
I could have up to 6. lol You usually don't have them all at once but you switch them up.
We've gone through a lot of strollers but we had 2 double strollers too.
I am on my 3rd child so we will probably have 2 or 3 strollers. Start with travel system and jogging or city mini. Eventually get the compact folding and umbrella.

I'm a stroller addict and put 0 strollers on my registry.  4 is excessive. I didn't put any because I like high end $$ and didn't want anyone to feel obligated to purchase it.
I also didn't put strollers on the registry. My Orbit stroller was my first baby purchase. Was so excited to bring it home. I would not expect anyone to buy us a $1000 stroller. I am sure there would be some eye rolling there.

All my suburban mom friends say the snap and go is the easiest. I really like the Bugaboo Bee but I know that the snap and go is more practical with the car seat.

Tha snap and go is much lighter and more compact. I used mine for over a year worth each of my girls bc they were small and fit in the infant seat a long time. My regular stroller (the city mini) is such a pain to deal with in comparison.
