I am registering for the ergo. I would recommend that brand or one of the other ones that does not damage the babys hips. I teach special needs children and hip dysplasia is much more common than we realize.

yea I even used it with my premie twins I never used the insert I used a receiving blanket. Love this carrier. I used it a lot and have some back issues and it never gave me a problem.

This is actuallly my concern, hip dysplasia. My mom cares for children with special needs, and ond of her kids has this issue. Thanks so much.

Does this carrier have some sort of support for your back? With my first I used the Bjorn and it killed my back!

The ergo has excellent back support for the wearer. I use mine every day since dd2 was about 7 weeks old. I used the nb insert once or twice, but then just used a thicker swaddle blanket. Love it.

The Mei Tai and the Boba are supposed to be great carriers too.

This time I'm looking to the mai tai and possibly the moby. There is a local baby-wearing club near me that allows you to 'rent' out different carriers a month at a time so you can find the one you like and THEN go buy it. Chat Icon

Re: Baby Carrier recommendations?

We're thinking of either a Moby or a K'tan...with the Moby, my husband and I can both use the same one...with the K'tan, we would have to buy one each...I have a hot sling that I liked for when my girls were newborns, but this time, I feel that I need to be wearing the baby more since I have two older DDs.

With the Ergo can the baby face forward when they're older?

DD had to be treated for hip dysplasia as a newborn. We abandoned the bjorn (not too comfy anyway) and now only use the moby or ergo since they provide support under the baby's legs which is better for them. DD is about 19 pounds and 9 months now and the ergo is my go to. The carriers that face outward do not support the baby's legs so they aren't as good for the hips.

We actually have the Britax carrier. I've only used it a few times, but so far so good. It's supposed to be really good for extended wear.

The baby Bjorn is shit. Flame away but it is what it is. Ergo is great. You'll need an infant insert. Beco is a great brand as is Boba. You do not want baby facing out.

Anything but the baby bjorn. Wish I knew how it would kill my back when I registered for it with baby #1 & now I am stuck with it.

I had the moby with DS and the baby bjorn. The moby wrap was so much more comfortable. Highly recommend.
