at what point do you call your OB for swelling?
my fingers, hands, ankles, and feet have been swelling a lot the past few days and today my ankles and feet have completely blown up. I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy and it is a very big fear of mine. I know that swelling is normal towards the end but at what point do you call the doctor or should you be concerned? my next appt is not until next Tuesday the 17th.

Re: at what point do you call your OB for swelling?
i think if the swelling is abnormal then call, esp. cause you had pre-e before. also if you have other symptoms like headaches or vision changes, DEF call.
i had pre-e and got DX based on the swelling and the protein in my 24 hour. my BP was actually stable until i delivered. i didnt realize the swelling was bad until the nurse mentioned it to me at a routine appt. after the fact people told me i looked very swollen but no one mentioned it to me at the time so i figured it was normal pregnancy swelling . but when i think back i remember the day before i was admitted to the hospital on bedrest, walking felt strange on my feet. the only way i can explain it is that it felt like my leg bones were stepping down into tingly jello when i walked, because that's how swollen my feet and ankles were.
good luck!!

I dont think it would hurt to call your Dr and just ask. If they are worried then they will have you come in early. Piece of mind I would call and go if they want you to.
