At what age did you stop using a rectal thermometer?
DS is almost 2 and I feel like he's getting too old for it.

Yeah he's pretty patient...I finally stopped this morning and am trying to figure out if I should get an ear one, a temporal one, or just use a regular one under his arm!

Believe it or not, I used it on Marron this past December and she was 3.5!  She wasn't crazy about it but I had to get her temp and I just distracted her and kept telling her it was ok. I didn't have any other kind of thermometer...I recently bought a temporal artery one which stinks so I think I'm gonna get the underarm one -- I just don't know if the ear one is accurate enough.

Same, he whines a bit but not too much!~
Honestly we have an ear one and I think it was a waste of $$$ I get a different reading every time and not just 1 or 2 degrees, like 10!
Even when I use it on me or DH I feel its not accurate.
After Rectal I will just switch to under arm!

i use the temporal on my 3 yo and my 1.5 yo.... if my 1.5 yo wont let me use his forhead and i think his temp is high i use the rectal.. but thats only been 1 or 2 times.

About 2.5 years (we just stopped recently). We use the temporal one now. DD has a history of high fevers so I wanted the most accurate possible (rectal) for as long as possible.
