At 8 months, do you give your kid juice?

I know the answer is probably yes, but can someone give me some tips and pointers? How much? 100% juice? What kind? Do you dilute it? Cup or bottle?

DS is 7 1/2 months old and we give him juice. He doesn't get it every day, but enough. We usually give it to him with his lunch...2 oz juice, 2 oz water. He didn't want the sippy cup at first, so we did it in the bottle. But now he's getting used to the sippy.

i gave the baby either gerber baby juice or half regular juice half water.

In general, it is reccomended that kids have no more than lie 5 oz of juice a day (that # may not be totally correct), but in any case it should be a small amount. Jack is 2 and I still dilute his juice with 50% water. At 8 monhts I'd put the juice in a sippy.

No. I am seeing my doctor next week, but as of yet- no. I don't see why I would. I would rather give her water and fruit. Juice here just has too much sugar.

Yes, we got the ok at his 7 month visit. We give him half juice and half water.

don't want to start controversy - and I'm really asking b/c I don't know. Why give them juice that young? What is the point of it? Is it to get them to drink out of the sippy? My son is 6 months - doctor told me he won't really use the sippy until 9 months. When do you introduce water?

I don't know either, that's why I ask. I'm totally okay with no juice either, but I feel like all my kid gets is milk. She's a very bad eater, probably the worst in the world. We're lucky if she takes 4 oz. of solids a day.

I didn't introduce juice until he was way past a year old.

No juice either for my 8.5 month old. Just water in her sippy and formula to drink. I got the okay from PED, and i still won't do it.
She doesn't need additional sugar, even if it's watered down. I don't want her to get used to sweet drinks.

I drink juice with 25% juice and 75% water in my own glass. Plenty of time for juices down the road :)

Yes, we started around then, just a splash in her water... I found that she actually drank much more that way. Now at 10 months she gets maybe 2-4 oz/day, it isn't going to kill her. And she is not overweight by any means so it's ok by me.

I just started(she's 9 months), but I do more of a 75/25 mix.

Nope I didn't until very recently (20 months). Theres no need for it. I only started at the doctor's suggestion to mix with a medicine she needed.

its so weird that my ped gave me a chart saying 5 mths i can introduce juice in a cup.

Ava's a little over 7 months old, but I do not give her juice. The only time is if she's constipated. I'd rather her drink water since babies don't need juice.

Alex will be 22 months old and still doesn't drink juice. He drinks water, drinkable yoghurts and milk.

DD is almost 9 months old and she has only had juice 3 or 4 times, when she was constipated. And even then, it was only 50% juice, and 50% water.
