As a home buyer...
...what is a really nice gift you've received from the seller?
Our buyers have been amazing and I want to get them something nice to say I appreciate their kindness. Thanks!

Re: As a home buyer...
Maybe just leave a bottle of champagne in the fridge with a little note. I've seen that done on HGTV before and it would seem like a nice gift

Re: As a home buyer...
Our sellers left us a bottle of wine and 2 wine glasses and a card wishing us well in our new home.

Re: As a home buyer...
That's nice of you -- the deals I've been involved with, the sellers generally haven't gotten a gift for the buyers.
But the last deal I did, the sellers left the buyers a bottle of champagne in the fridge, as others have suggested, and they appreciated it!
Also, when I have been the realtor for the buyers, I've done things like gift cards to Home Goods or Bed Bath and Beyond, restaurant gift cards, etc. My realtor got us a decorative stone for the garden when we bought our house.
Something else I've done for buyers -- especially if they are unfamiliar with the area -- is to assemble a binder of local info (restaurants, take out menus, coupons, etc.) for their reference. Since you know your neighborhood best, that would be a really nice gesture, and would give them the inside scoop on local stores and events.

We're going to leave our buyers a frame with a "welcome home" sign in it along with some take out menus from the neighborhood since they aren't from the area.

Re: As a home buyer...
When my ex-h and I purchased our first home, the sellers left us a bottle of wine, but, they also hired a cleaning service to clean the entire house from windows to the inside of the refrigerator so all we had to do was unpack. I know it is not the norm, but I thought it was extremely generous and thoughtful.

Wow, that is so nice of you!! I agree with the PP that the cleaning service would be a great idea. I can't imagine our sellers leaving us anything...except for maybe all their junk to clean up

When we bought our first home, our real estate agent gave us a home depot gift card. That really came in handy!!

This is what the sellers did when my parents bought their house. It was a really nice and thoughtful gift. It made it feel like they were being welcomed into their new home, can't explain it, but it just made it feel so right for them.

Nothing. We even let them stay for an extra 4 days without asking for anything. If it were me, I would have left at least a bottle of champagne.

A garage and yard filled with crap and garbage. He never finished packing and we had to kick him out!
I think a bottle of champagne in the fridge is a great idea! Along with the take out menu idea, maybe leave a gc to one of the take out restaurants with them?

Re: As a home buyer...
We didn't get anything from the seller. His mother had just passed away so I'm sure a gift was the last thing on his mind. We did get a bottle of wine from our mortgage consultant though who even came to our closing.

Re: As a home buyer...
When we purchased our coop we got a notebook style "bill organizer" with a personal note from the sellers along with a few takeout menus and their own "reviews" of the local restaurants. It was really nice and something we really enjoyed! I am going to do the same for the person buying our coop.

Re: As a home buyer...
We closed on our house the day our twins came home from the NICU. The sellers hired a cleaning service (the best girft ever) and left us a big basket of baby stuff! We were so appreciative!

Re: As a home buyer...
Cleaning service would be MINT.
Our sellers left a list of local doctors, pediatrician they used, vet, etc. They also left a folder with all of the local places they ordered from.

They gave us a house full of (expensive) problems!
OMG, a cleaning service would have been the best gift ever. We spent days scrubbing the entire house.
