I read somewhere the other day you should. Is this true? Why? And for how long?

if you plan to use your breast milk, yes and it would be as long as you use it.

I will be, but I also plan on breasfeeding.

I have read that prenatals are a good vitamin for any women of child-bearing age to be taking, so I will also be incorporating them into my daily routine after BF'ing ends. It can't hurt!

I didnt breast feed like the previous posters . But when I got discharged after having my dd I was told to try to continue with my prenatals. Honestly I couldnt wait to stop taking them cause the taste of them just made me Chat Icon

I've been told to continue but I do plan on breastfeeding. Not sure if it's a must if you don't plan on breastfeeding Chat Icon

This exactly! Especially if you are planning on having more children in the future. I have heard the recommendation that you take prenatals for months before you even start to TTC so that your body has the right supply of folic acid in it, since folic acid doesn't stay in the system for long.

You can get a lot of great brands of prenatals OTC so I will be using OTC prenatals probably for years after the pregnancy...just because I am of child-bearing age!

I have been taking prenatals for years, way before I even thought about becoming pregnant. I read that all women of child bearing age should take them because of the folic acid and if you don't have enough in your system your child could have spina bifida even before you realize you are pregnant, because most women who aren't trying to get pregnant don't find out until they are 6-8 weeks and it could be too late to start getting the extra folic acid.
