Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I am trying to work out being able to work from home. It will be tough to take care of the baby full time and work full time from home, but I like that scenario better than going back to the office at 6 weeks

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I'll be home for 7 months then return to teaching in September. Most of my leave will be unpaid. I have to go back for financial reasons, but I would choose to go back anyway. I have a great job with a great schedule for being a mom.

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I wish I had the option to work only PT but my salary pays the mortgage. I will be returning to work after taking 6-8 weeks maternity leave [depending on type of delivery] and using up as much vacation time as possible. Probably 12 weeks total.

I work 2 days now and I'll continue after this baby. I LOVE my 2 days out of the house and I'm not ready to give that up!

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
Well, the "plan" is for me to take an extended leave (6 months) and then go back PT (3 days per week) and my mom will watch
Hopefully our plan will work out but you never know what may happen!

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
Well, I have already altered my regular work schedule since quitting my high stress, long hour, job in September. Now I work part to full time freelance-- but mostly, just 3 days a week.
After I have the baby, I plan to take a year off-- during that time we'll probably move, and then I'll look for another FT job close to where we end up living. I refuse to work in advertising again in Manhattan-- it's just too demanding, and I think a job in the burbs is a bit more family friendly with an appropriate work/life balance. I just hope there is enough opportunity.

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I will go back - I get 8 - 10 weeks paid, and can take up to 6 months, which I most likely will -But after that, back to the grind.

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
We need the two incomes as we're saving for a house still. But, we still haven't figured out a daycare/babysitting situation. If the only situation we can find ends up costing more than I bring home a week, then i'll just stay home. If we get lucky and we can find a nanny/sitter/daycare for a reasonable amount then I'll go back to work afer 12 weeks.

I'll be returning to teaching after taking 12 weeks of leave.
I would LOVE to take the rest of the year off, but I'm under my own insurance and my income pays the mortgage, so we'd be in a bit of a rough spot.
I also carry insurance and my husband is trying to start a new business so don't think we can really do that now. I will be taking 8-10 weeks and returning to work. I work from home though so it is very easy to accomodate my schedule. As long as I keep my sales up no one cares when or how I am working.

I will be returning to work full-time. Not much of a choice for us since I make alot more than DH.
same here
No way we could live without my full income.. much less PT.

DH and I make about the same, but my salary is definitely needed to pay the mortgage!

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I work part-time & I will be returning. I'm also a student. I think I'll be taking the spring semester off (I'm due in April) & I'll return to class either for a summer class or I'll just wait for the fall.

12 weeks. Not one day longer. I will NOT, however, teach summer school next year and may never again. I need to put my foot down sometime!
Same except I am not going back until the beginning of the next school year. I am due right at the beginning of the 2nd semester at school so its perfect timing.

Re: Are you returning to work? POLL
I have been a SAHM for a year now. I will also be home this year with baby #2. I am on a leave of absence from teaching in the NYC school system. I can take a unpaid childcare leave for up to 4 years. I am not sure what I will do when my leave is up.
