Are you afraid of looking fat?
When you get your BFP are you afraid that when you start showing you're going to look more fat than pregnant? I am, I am not obese or anything but def. not skinny. For that reason I'm afraid I will look more fat than pregnant. I sure hope I'm wrong...

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
in the beginning when you are already getting bloated but you can't tell--that's gonna be a little uncomfortable for me. once it's out, i'm just going to relish that period when everyone wants to be nice to me and gives me a pass on the size of my a$$ (or belly).
it's afterward that gives me anxiety. i'm planning to breastfeed no matter what it takes if for no other reason (and this isn't the only one, obviously) than because it helps take off baby weight faster.

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
I'm not sure! I am dreading walking around at work all big and pg! We don't see preggos too often at my job so I will stick out. I plan on not over eating just b/c I am pg. Hopefully I gain no more than 25 pounds!!

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
I used to be 50 lbs heavier so the thought of putting on weight is absolutely frightening. Ive gotten better at it but it will be a challenge. I don't think I will look at the scale until LO is here and I can get back to my normal eating routine!!

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
i would like to say ill be all belly cuz that is what i would love to happen, but in reality it prob wont happen...im pretty sure ill look pregnant, but im afraid im going to look gross! im not at the weight i would have liked to be starting ttc, and im too scared to start excersing and dieting with ttc so basically it is what it is! as long as i have the baby at the end of it! i will take being fat for a few months!

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
I posted this the other day in PG because it's constantly on my mind... as a fat girl growing up and battling weight my whole life, it has not been easy to look in the mirror or look at the scale and see this happening. But everyone around me assures me it's for the best and the health of the baby. So I am trying against all emotional logic to feel ok about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy, but the body image is really, really tough.

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
I am.. growing up I had serious weight and body image issues, and it does not help, with me being a health nut and having an obsession with the scale.
I know I cannot work out in the first trimester and all, and my excuse eating like crazy is knowing that I can run and lose it during the week.. so the short answer, yes. I know it sounds so shallow but, I am scared.

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
Beyond scared! I am very body conscious; I have to work at my size (eating right, gym 5 + days a week), I'm afraid I will fall off when I get pregos and balloon to a size I can't recover from. DH is supportive (he's also a trainer) so it's helpful; he'll help me lose the weight if need be,,,,

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
When I was pregnant, I was very bloated from the start- but it was a different kind of bloat. I thought it looked rounder Most people at work guessed I was pregnant very early on .... I think it largely depends on what you wear. Some will give your belly a more rounder shape and you'll look more pregnant than look like you're gaining weight At least this was my experience.......

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
When I was preggo I wasa little afraid of this, but you forget about it fast. Believe me! I'm small and work out a lot so when I got pregnant last time I was taking it easy working out. Especially since I bled a bit 1st tri. As soon as I stopped working out my belly was getting soft b/c the baby was still tiny, but I wasn't toning I just wore sweaters b/c it was winter. Oh... worst part is first tri you get bloated so everything was tight.
2nd tri was much better. Baby was growing and bloating went down. FInally had a cute belly. Don't worry... everyone will have adorable bellies

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
i'm 95 lbs....i broke 100lbs once in my life when i was on meds that made me gain around 30 lbs. i stopped the meds after the weight gain and i did everything i could to lose the weight...
honestly i do not want to see myself break 100 again...but i know it's for a good cause and part of me wants that big round belly...but b/c i am so naturally tiny - 5ft and 95 lbs - i am a little scared of how i am going to carry...i'm hoping i'll, be all belly but that's just wishful thinking
i am more afraid of AFTER pregnancy...i know if i put my mind to it i can lose the weight - it's the excess skin and stretch marks i am worrying about - and sagging

ITA bring it on during the pregnancy, as long as LO and I are healthy. I'm scared I won't loose the baby wieght after and people will still think I'm preggers!

Now that you mention it I am not looking forward to it
Mostly I view it as a means to an end and will just have to be diligent about taking it off

Why can't you work out during the first trimester? Is it a personal reason? (I don't mean to pry, but this is unusual.) I've been working out regularly 4-5 days a week since a year ago and my doctor said I can continue my entire routine as long as I listen to my body and double my fluids (and stay away from impact sports).

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
no. being pregnant is the one time it's "okay" to be "fat". I'm more afraid of staying fat after the baby is born.

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
Yes! I plan on eating right and exercsing throughout but, you cant help water retention. Every body is different. I would love to say I'm going to be all belly but, I have a feeling I'm going to spread all over. My mom did. She gained 70 lbs

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
Yes!!! I was in the beginning and I still am. I'm 12 weeks almost so at this point I'm starting to look like I ate one too many doughnuts. I don't look pregnant at all, really. It's depressing.
I have always been health conscious and unfortunately I've always had body image issues. I eat well and work out 5 + times a week for an hour and a half a day!!!!!!!! I was in really good shape before getting pregnant so seeing extra weight pile up is really hard especially because i worked so hard to get my body the way it is. It's really depressing to know I'm going to gain more too! I just try to keep reminding myself that it's healthy and good for the baby but I can't help but feel gross. I just really hope I can lose the weight quick after pregnancy!

Re: Are you afraid of looking fat?
I used to be VERY afraid of this... It would seriously keep me up at night!! In the 4 1/2 months I was pregnant, I gained about 15lbs.
The next time around I WILL NOT CARE about weight!!! AT ALL! I just want to be pregnant with a healthy baby .. despite what that will do to my body.
