Re: Are you a better wife (or SO) or mother?

Honestly, since DS was born he was pretty high maintenance (a host of GI issues and various surgeries) for the first year. Then I got pg again when he was about 16 months or so. So I would say I've been a pretty crappy wife (in my eyes) because I've either been more focused on DS and his issues or being miserably pregnant again. Luckily I have a very understanding DH.

Re: Are you a better wife (or SO) or mother?

I have only been a mom for 3 weeks and I can already say I am a better mom than I am wife.

I think I am a pretty good wife, but my mothering skills just surpass the wifely duties LOLChat Icon

I chose both. At this point in time there's nothing lacking in my relationship with DH and i'm pretty proud of how well DD is turning out so far.Chat Icon

DD takes priority so I'd have to say better mother, although I wish I could say both equally...definitely going to work on this!!

in 2010, a better mother but it's DS first year so I'm fine with that. I plan on working to fit DH back into my life in 2011 Chat Icon

Re: Are you a better wife (or SO) or mother?

Right now...I feel the answer is neither.

I am so overwhelmed. I'm also a f/t teacher in a high-need school...so I guess I'd say I'm probably a better teacher than anything else right now.

Don't have much of a choice in that matter...my district is looking to cut 120 teachers at the end of this year--I can't afford for one of those teachers to be me.

On a regular basis, though, I feel I'm a much better wife than mother.

DH thinks I'm too hard on myself. I think I need a lot of "me" time in order to stay sane...I think that's my biggest downfall is a mother.

I'm spread too thin and I'm overwhelmed. I wish I could feel I was really successful at anything at the moment, much less all 3 of those things. Chat Icon

My 2011 resolution though is to start being a better wife and more attentive to my DH.

I am a better mother. I am working on becoming a better wife to DH now that DD is getting older and we have her various GI issues basically under control.

A better mother...for now. Thankfully DH respects and appreciates that I need to take care of the boys first. Working full-time outside the home makes for little personal time.

We do take the last of our vacation time before it runs out (if there is any) for entire date days. Not much but we'll take it just to reconnect.

i think it's even but I "feel" like a better wife b/c dh doesn't stress me out or tests my patience like my kids often do.

Re: Are you a better wife (or SO) or mother?

Right now, mother, but I also have an almost 5 mo old and a VERY high energy 4 yr old. I do try really hard to make DH feel special. I think it gets easier as the kids get older. If this was a year ago and I only had our one 3 yr old, I would've answered both. So I know there's a light at the end of this tunnelChat Icon Chat Icon

Right now a better mother. To be honest, I am not such a bad wife - DH and I are having a really great relationship right now BUT I am a craptastic housewife at the moment and I am very ashamed of it - I feel that I am really falling behind on something that I consider my "job" and I am trying to set up my cooking, cleaning and taking care of the household!

I am slacking in the wife dept big time. I feel bad for Dh. But being a mom is exhausting.

right now - I am def a better mom. But I am trying to equal them out without compromising the mom part.
