Re: Are movers necessary?

we rented a u-haul when we moved out of our apt - which was on the second floor of a walk-up in queens. We moved it to a storage facility in commack, and it worked out fine. Just get a bunch of friends to help.

When we mover from the storage unit to the house we will rent another u-haul.

Re: Are movers necessary?

when we moved from my in laws house into our house... we moved ourselves. We had about 5 friends help us because we had the stuff at their house and stuff in a storage unit (furniture and so forth).

It was easy. We did it in one day! So no i don't think movers are necessary if you have a few people to help you guys. Chat Icon

*Before that, we first moved from a 2nd story apartment to my in laws by ourselves as well.

if stairs are involved- YES they are necessary- if no stairs - then you can do it yourself

we lived on a 2nd story apartment and it was fine. As long as you don't mind putting in the work...

If DH wants to hire movers it may be necessary. He'd be expected to do the lifting, so if he doesn't want to than it may be worth the price to make him happy.

We've always hired movers. I know I'm not lifting the furniture!

I agree. We always rented movers.

no. We have moved from several apartments and two houses. Never used a mover, just us and friends.
