Apple iOS 8.0 Update
Has anyone tried to update their iPhone 4S/5/5S to the new OS and get the message that they need more storage space? I tried d/loading the new update and my phone tells me have to clear almost 6B of data just to update my 16GB phone. I have no clue what else to delete..I am running on bare minimum w/ apps as it is...*****' Apple-

Delete messages. That was the only way I could update.
Texts, email. The email took me days! But after that, it worked fine

Texts are HUGE!!
I wonder about the email though...because even if you delete doesnt it automatically load 100 messages?

Thanks, I will try that! all my Gmail goes to my phone and I rarely clear it out..That will take me hours to do too..UGH..fr.e.a.kin Apple..

YUP!
I did this with the last update. It literally took me days. I have 3 emails on this phone. I NEVER clear them out after reading them. Who Knew? Since doing it, I always delete and then delete trash. If it's important, I just flag it until I don't need it anymore.
This includes Sent Messages as well. A real PIA.

Apple iOS 8.0 Update
You do not need to clear out space if you plug your phone into your computer and update through Itunes. You should back up your phone w/ itunes before updating anyway.

Yeah I should have specified that you do need some space but not nearly as much if you update through your computer. I had 2.6gb available, it told me I needed 5.8 to do it wirelessly but I didn't need that to update through my computer.

I did it just to get it and reloaded my apps.
