Anything to help a 13 month old with a bad cough?

DS is seriously coughing like crazy. He's been on a nebulizer on and off since February but this last bug is awful. The nebulizer doesn't seem to be helping and he got worse later in the day so now I have to wait until tomorrow am for the ped. He's in bed coughing every 15-20 seconds. Is there anything I can do?

Coughing always gets worse at night and the heat in is room probably sing helping, but you need it since it's still cold out.

Do you have a humidifier? Is the any way to prop his mattress up a little so he's not laying flat?

I wonder if he has some kind of allergy that he coughs a lot?

I agree with the humidifier and putting a rolled up towel under the marttess to elevate the crib. My DD also has a wicked cough at night and will sometime wake up and throw up from it. Unfortunately nothing seems to help much. I am prob going to call my doctors this week to find out what else I can do.

Ask your ped if its okay to give some honey.

I gave DS like 1/2 tsp after bottle/meals and it really helped his cough.

Someone here recommended buckwheat honey, but I have yet to try it. Regular honey seemed to work just fine.
