Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
I am getting so stressed about DD's weight. She has hardly gained anything since her 9 month appointment, although I keep reminding myself that she was an early walker and is always on the move. I plan to talk to my doctor about her weight at her 1 year appt (which will actually happen in two weeks when she is 13 months old because they were booked up so far in advance), as she seems to have dropped from her previous curve since her 9 month appt.
Anyone's baby not hit 20lbs by one year?
Anyone's baby not triple their birth weight by a year? (is this stat based on their actual birth weight or the weight they drop to after they are born - either way, we haven't gotten there yet)

DD1 didn't hit 20lbs until she was 2. She is just small all over. She slowed her weight gain significantly when she became mobile, about 9-10 months old. But, she eats well, she is always moving, is very intelligent and all other development is on track. We watched her to make sure she didn't lose any weight and continued to grow and she did.
She is only 26lbs now at 4 but is healthy.

Neither of my girls were 20 pounds by a year, and neither had tripled their birthweight. If she is happy, healthy, eating, etc, I wouldn't worry about an arbitrary number. Look at the whole child and see how she is doing. Good luck!!

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
Mine wasn't 20 lbs at a year old. She is now 26 months and is about 26 pounds . My ped was never concerned- always said she was right in a healthy range
ETA- she was 7 lbs at birth- so in order for her to have tripled her birth weight by 1 year old she would have had to been 21 lbs. She was not. My ped didn't even mention that tripling thing.

DD was 19-12 at her 1 year appointment but she was a preemie. at her 15m she was 20-13. however she did gain over 5x her birth weight since she was only 3-8 when she was born. as long as your DD is following her curve and hasn't drastically reduced her weight gain (its normal for it to slow towards a year, esp once they are mobile) or lost weight i def wouldn't be concerned.

my son did not triple at a year. I think not hitting 20lbs by 1 year is not at all abnormal.

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
my daughter will probably not hit 20 lbs...and i didnt either way back when!
She is just hitting 15 lbs now at 8.5 mo and has consistently gained only 1 lb every mo - so i am guessing she will be 18-19 lbs at a year!
my dr isnt concerned bec she is consistent and staying along her 1-5% line on the chart...he said as long as she is not dropping!
i would talk to your dr..my dr also said he was more concerned with the height droppng than the weight (which neither has ..thank god)...dropping in height is more worrisome to him than the weight bec that is a sign of not getting enough! I thought that was pretty interesting

Neither of my girls were 20 pounds at a year. The younger one was closer but the older one was a tiny little peanut. My pediatrician always comments on how healthy they are. I've always been told as long as they are growing fairly consistently, not to worry.

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
DD was 19 lbs at a year, I think by 18M she was 21 lbs. And she has always been a great eater. I think at her 2 year appt she was about 24 lbs
She is petite though. At 28 months most 24M shorts slide right off her little butt!

My DD was only 18lbs at a year and she eats EVERYTHING!!!
She can still fit into 9 month clothing at 14 months old. She's just petite. Our ped isn't concerned at all.

My dd was only 18.8 lbs at a year! Now at 2 years old she is almost 25 lbs. My dd is small but dr said she is healthy and that is all that matters.

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
DD was 19-12 at a year, which was not 3x her birthweight. Her ped wasn't concerned at all and said the 3x rule was BS She became mobile very quickly, so she didn't gain as much weight.
No worries, mama. As long as they're hitting milestones and haven't fallen totally off the growth chart, your LO is probably fine.

At 12.5 months DD was only 19lbs, 5oz. She is the smaller side, but the ped didn't seem concerned.
She eats a decent amount and is very active. All babies are different!

my 1st didn't hit 20 lbs by a year. They never said anything to me about it as a concern.
He's 4 years and 3 months and he's only 32 lbs. He's just a tiny little thing.
i wouldn't stress unless you're told to stress.

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
My two year old is about 21lbs. At 1 she was 18. Don't stress it. My daughter is fine. I stressed about my sons weight and i drove myself crazy. He's still skinny at 4.5. My family considers my 6 month old "chubby". She's 25%for weight so that shows you how emaciated the other two were. Really try not to stress it. everyone comes in different shapes and sizes.

DD is 4 and only 28lbs. At her one year check up she was 18 lbs. They ran some blood tests to check for any health issues and everything came back normal. She's just petite.
DS is 19 lbs at 9 months old!

Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
DD was not 20lbs at 1year. She only gained 6oz in 4months prior to that as well. In fact, she STILL hasn't tripled her birth weight and she's 29months. I'm not worried, she's just a thin girl (both DH & I were extremely thin as children- DH still is, mine is a fight with this baby weight!)
She was 9lbs 5oz at birth.

Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
My DD was 17 lbs at one year and at 15 months 18 lbs 12 oz. She's just always been small. If she is growing on her growth curve I wouldn't worry.

Re: Anyone's LO not hit 20lbs by 1 year?
Thanks all! Everyone is always commenting on how little she is, so it gives me a bit of a complex. She is also pretty much totally bald, so everyone assumes she is like 6 months old (despite the fact that she is walking )
My siblings and I were all 25lb+ at 1 year (and I was only 4lb when born) and my nephews were chunky at 1 year, so I only have big babies in the family to compare her to!
ETA: Glad to know the triple their birth weight by a year thing is bologna, because I don't think that is going to happen for many more months.

I was 12 lbs at a year old with no hair... I was running around too. My mom would put me down in a store and people would gasp and sometimes yell at her because they thought I was a lot younger. She just laughed at them... To this day,I still look younger then I am!!!
