Anyone's DC have tummy issues with cereal and oatmeal?

Hi,

I'm not sure if it is the cereal and oatmeal. DD has been super cranky the last four days. She has had more gas and is waking up every half hour at night throwing her legs up. We started oatmeal last week after the rice cereal made her constipated. I don't know what to do...she is almost 5 months old.

Anyone have a similar experience?

no sorry.. it made my DS poop like crazy! but he loves it..

i would stop it for 3-5 days and see if those issues stop... if it does, then maybe try barley or call ped for advice..

Yes! DS got so constipated from the cereal. I tried both rice and Oatmeal. I wound up stopping it all together. I waited a good two weeks to re-introduce solids. DS was still so constipated 2 weeks after stopping the cereal. I called the ped and she said to start giving him some fruit. I started with Pears and it helped so much. He is finally getting regular again.
I would lay off the cereal for a while. You don't have to start them on solids and some people don't start until 6 months. See if it helps. If DD is still constipated, try some fruit. I also gave DS 1oz of pear juice and 1oz of water mixed. The ped told me to try just water or juice. I figured I would try just water but DS hated it.

My DS is 5 months, and has been doing good with pears and I just started Sweet potatoes today. I'm skipping cereal all together until I can mix it with a fruit. Just a FYI bananas, apples, peas could also cause constipation.

try barley cereal my dd liked that one the best she was also getting constipated on the rice I made it a little more soupy for her until she got used to it
