Anyone watch Hidden Potential on HGTV?
I found this show on on demand and I am LOVING it. It's amazing what the designer can see that I could never even imagine for some of these houses.
I'd just never even considered looking so far under budget and doing major renovations to get exactly what I wanted in a home. Although move-in ready would be ideal, watching this show has really made me think differently.
I want to buy a house now! And hire this designer :P
HGTV is becoming very dangerous...

I like the show but I HATE that they don't do a follow up to show the house after the renovations. I love my HGTV!

That is what disappointed me at the end of the show - that I don't get to see how it actually looks! Maybe they'll do one eventually and showcase several of the homes in a special?

I like the show but find that the estimates do not come even close to LI contractors prices though.

I would love to see a follow up after the people complete the renovations. Flip that house has gone back for updates, maybe this show will do the same thing after enough time has passed to get the work done?

Re: Anyone watch Hidden Potential on HGTV?
The people don't always buy the house. Someone mentioned they know the people that were on the West Islip show and the houses sold before they could purchase one. A friend of mine knows someone who was on another episode, and they didn't buy the house they chose either. I guess they could do follow up shows on those that do buy the house they chose.

Another issue with this show is where are you going to get a loan like this nowadays. Banks just are not doing these loans anymore(meaning 1-200K over asking or appraisal)

yay- i always thought the same thing- how do these people get the money for the renovations? seems a stretch and hard to make into a reality. That and all the permits you have to get to do the renovations as well as increases in taxes. Love the idea and the places look really good but not so realistic in my opinion.
