YES! My husband called and said he was thinking of switching to Verizon b/c $$ was better and we would get more (its currently not offered in our area!) abd they took $30 off the bill and free dvr for a year! Def. call!

Do you have Verizon in your area? They know, down to the street names, exactly where Verizon is and isn't. If it's not in your area, no deal.

Cablevision set up a dedicated dept to handle people switching to Verizon, but supposedly there are so many people switching back on their own, they are not being as generous with incentives anymore.




We dont have it in our area and they still gave us a break when we said we would switch. We have the triple play.....

Same here. DH just called today and told them he didnt want to pay that much and was going to switch to Verizon. He spoke to the cancellation dept. and they took $30 off our monthly bill. No proof of appointment wiht Verizon was necessary, they did it right then and there.

Just BE SURE to get the persons name you speak to. I called and threatened to move to Fios and they gave us a free upgrade (to gold package) Free DVR for 6 months and something else I can't recall (on demand maybe). Anyway, I get my bill the following month and it is WAY more than it had been before I called. I called Cable and told them everything that was given to me BUT I dind't have the persons name that I spoke to and the guy told me there was only a record of me upgrading, nothing about it being for free. The guy was a real pr!ck. ANyway, again I threatened and said ok fine, cancel me, I'm going to Fios...he says OK, hold on.....and disconnected my cable right awayChat Icon I almost $hit - then my DH got on the phone and got it back on.

After we switched to Fios I called back Cable to cancel and talked to a REALLY nice woman who DID find the information about everything being given to us. She said the guy I talked to didn't "scroll down enough'Chat Icon . I told her sorry, but that guy is the reason you lost a customer.

Just be sure to get NAMES!!!

Ok, we have the triple play, and I want to add a DVR. Is there a way to ask for a deal, a few months free or something? We don't want to change or even go through the motions... but we haven't ever gotten any special stuff from them, so even a few free months would be nice.

Yes I did. Call cancellations. I asked what is the procedure for canceling? DO i need to make an appointment with you etc. THey told me everything and asking if i was moving. I said no but my husband wants Verizon b/c they are cheaper. The guy said well let me look at what you have...he checked it out and gave us 30 off our bill for the next 2 years. He asked if that would make my DH stay I say maybe. I said ok to the bill then said if my dh wants to cancel still can he? They sadi yea and now we are down 30 a month.

At first DH called the billing dept and even the guy in the cancellation dept said they are jerks and wont help you out.

SO my tip call cancellations and inquire about it
