Anyone See "The Business of Being Born?"
I rented this documentary from Netflix and watched it by myself last night since DH had to do OT. I gotta say, what an eye-opener!! I have never given thought to go the midwife route but then again, I never had any information about birthing- other than what my friends and family members have done. Definitely something I will think about next time around... though I adore my OB, who is NOT a pushy alarmist at all! Just something to think about.
I suggest all mommies to be to check out this movie. It is very interesting and really presents alot of information in a great way. One thing's for sure... I'm gonna do my damnedest NOT to get induced!!  Check it out ladies... you'll be glad you did!

Hi Gabi, this is the one that Ricki Lake made right??? I have heard really interesting things about it, and she took a lot of "heat" from the AMA after it was released!!Go Ricki!!!

Yup. This is the one. It really opened my eyes. I consider myself an informed person but realized that when it comes to childbirth, I'm really not. Check it out!!

I checked Blockbuster's website and they do have it listed, so I am sure you can get it from there. You would find it in the 'Documentary' section.

DH and I also rented it from Netflix and watched it. It really was an eye opener but I have to say though, for me, I still wouldn't feel comfortable with a home birth and midwife. I like being under the care of an OB and being at the hospital in case god forbid something should go wrong but that being said, I will do everything I can to get through labor and delivery on my own. If the need arises for medical intervention I am not opposed but I will try to stay home as long as I can so I can progress further without the pressure of the doctors and hospital. It was a very interesting movie, I recommend everyone see it too!!

I definitely have to rent and see this....I loved being induced, I had an incredibly easy labor and experience overall...but I would be curious to see what they say about it.
I also would never go anywhere but a hospital to have my baby, but to each their own...I love documentaries even if I disagree with them, should be interesting!
