we just celebrated dd's 2nd bday on saturday at our house. we had about 25 people.

last year we also celebrated her first birthday at the house. last year we had about 40 people.

we didn't have a big baptism event (just 10 people and ate at a restaurant) so we thought we could do something a little bigger for her birthday.

both years we ended up running around like mad (activities for kids ages a few months - 5 years old), chairs, tent, food, favors but i LOVE having people over and always end up waking up sooo happy the next morning.

both years but more so this year she knew it was her day and i loved that she received so much attention! like others have mentioned i know she won't remember but we also thought it was a way to celebrate one year of making it out alive as new parents lol!!!

anyone regret having a big first bday party?

I never got parties at all growing up with my family and it's a very sore spot for me. It made me feel like I got jipped because my brother always got a pool party every.single.year. and I got squat since my day always fel during the school week.

Because of that I chose to do a big 1st birthday party for my DD. I wanted her 1st bday to be bigger than every birthday I ever had. It was worth it for me because I felt so happy doing it all for my daughter and while she won't remember it, all of our friends and family were there and she can see the pics and videos when she is bigger.

It was a crazy time and there were some points where I wanted to throw the towel in because we had a lot going on, but it was worth it and thensome. She was extra tired that night and had some moments of crankiness during the party but for the most part she was fine. It was like she knew it was a special day and she loved all the people and party atmosphere.

YES! Both of my kids 1st parties were nice but too many issues when you're having it somewhere.... Next time...super small and intimate at home will do!

We did a HUGE christening and at first I didn't want that but ultimately it was very nice, because of this we are doing a the first birthday at a kiddie party place and inviting only kids and their parents and some family. I felt like doing two big parties in one year AFTER a baby shower was asking a lot in terms of gifts so that was my reasoning and the only reason I didn't do a big 1st bday, I think they are fun
