Anyone have experience with leftover placenta? Possible DNC?

Sorry if TMI but it looks like I might have some leftover placenta - I'm 6 weeks PP. I am going for a more detailed sono on Tuesday and then will make a game plan with my doctor.

Anyone have experience with this - FM if you prefer.

Doctor said possible treatments are pills to make my body release it or a DNC.

I had a loss back in 2010 but miscarried naturally so I never had to go through one of these.

Any input or advice would be appreciated - how painful, what is recovery, etc.? Also, will it interfere with breastfeeding?

Sorry I don't have alot of info but my sister went through this.

She had the DNC. It was an ambulatory surgery and she was under twilight (i think) anesthesia. She was home later that day and felt back to herself within a few days.

It didn't interfere with her breastfeeding long term.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this!

I had a D&C under different circumstances, but it was a fairly quick and painless procedure. It was ambulatory surgery, so I was in and out of there within an hour or two. You are under anesthesia for about 20 minutes at most... it's very quick. Once you wake up, they give you a snack and you're on your way!

I'm not sure about the BF thing... you will probably just have to wait until the drugs are out of your system before starting up again. It shouldn't cause any longterm issues.
