anyone get dizzy type spells every time they get up...
Whenever I get up (almost every time) I get like a 10 sec dizzy spell...but I am not really dizzy it is like a cloud comes over me..I can't see.. I guess like seeing stars...but my vision is totally blocked off...
I just lean on something a door, wall, chair, counter, etc and wait 5-10 and it goes away..and I go about my business..
I have a dr apt next week and fig I would bring it up (forgot to mention it last time)
Just curious if anyone has had this happen to them!?

this happens to me too, although usually just in the mornings. Once I get to work I am fine. I never mentioned it to the doctor, I just figured it was normal.
ETA: it happens mostly when I am laying down and then get up. Occassionally happens if I am just sitting and then stand up. I am only 9w3d.

I read loss of vision or seeing stars could be a blood pressure issue. I'd mention it to doctor.

You have a lot more blood and your body does have to work harder to get it everywhere.
Do you eat every 2-3 hours?
How far are you? Could it be GD?

I get this frequently, from what I understand this is caused by low blood pressure.
I don't think it has anything to do with GD (because that is blood sugar, not pressure).
But if you find out different from your doc, please let us know!

Re: anyone get dizzy type spells every time they get up...
I had this even before being pregnant... Mine's due to low blood pressure, but now it's worse b/c as PP said, our bodies are working a lot harder now to move all that blood around. When it happens, I was told to either sit down with feet up or lay down on left side. It usually passes in a few minutes. HTH!

sounds like orthostatic hypotension (your blood pressure drops when you stand).... you might be dehydrated. try drinking (a lot) more and see if it helps.

ITA. Drink more. Have a bottle of water by your bed before you get up & have some. Then WAIT. Get up slowly. Sit first for 2-5 minutes, and then get up all the way.

how are you laying before you sit up? I read if you lay on your back your more likely to get a dizzy spell when you get up. and if you do lay on your back, don't get up so quickly.

well every time I go to the dr...which was a lot in the 1st trimester..they always take your blood pressure and they always said it was fine! So who knows!
It passes if i stand still for a couple of seconds..but I will still mention to my dr next week when I go...just to see what she says!

Re: anyone get dizzy type spells every time they get up...
This happened to me a lot in my 1st and beginning of 2nd trimesters. Doctor said it is totally normal because you have more blood flowing and if you are in a sedentary state and get up you may feel light headed. Definitely take it easy getting up. This would happen to me often once I woke up and also if I was sitting on the couch for a long period of time. I would sit up as I got up and slowly change positions so by the time I stood up, I was no longer light headed. It did go away. I would mention it to your doctor just so they are aware.
