Anyone from Richmond Hill, Queens
DH just got a teaching job through the NYC Dept. of Ed. Fellows and he just accepted a position at Richmond Hill HS. Anyone know anything about the school and surrounding area?
TIA!

I grew up in Richmond Hill. Didn't go to HS there though. My brother did. The surrounding area isn't the best but certainly not the worst.

Re: Anyone from Richmond Hill, Queens
My DH had his used vehicle lot there for many, many years, before selling it and moving. It was on Atlantic Avenue and 113th street. He always said he felt safe there, and came to know a lot of the locals. At night, I would worry for him, but he never had any trouble.

that's where I graduated it from, the area is not too bad although I know the school has changed a lot.
Phil Rizutto graduated from there as well.

I work in an elementary school a few blocks from there....
The neighborhood is fine...don't know much about the school, but I don't think its too bad as far as city HS go.

Re: Anyone from Richmond Hill, Queens
I lived on 112th street which is right around the corner from there when I was little. The area has changed a lot though since then. My friend went there and someone pulled out a gun and offered to sell it to her and the next day her mom transferred her to Christ the King.

My uncle graduated with him
Richmond Hill is the next town over from me. It's really not bad. I've heard the HS is a little rough, but it's not like Lane.
