Anyone else have a sensitive child?

DS is 4 years old. Always has been a bit sensitive. He's outgoing and sweet, but pretty passive and needy. I know it's normal of a kid that age too. Just seems he gets so sensitive over things.
I put him in some classes to help him gain more confidence which really is helping. It's not that he isn't outgoing bc he really is. Talks to everyone and tries to follow the kids at the parks, but a small thing could set him off and wants to be held by me for a while.
DS2 is the opposite. Not much bothers him and he's much more aggressive.
Anyone have a LO who can be sensitive? He doesn't even like to say goodbye to friends or family when they leave. He gets sad and has to run and hug me. Even a neighbor who lives across the street when the kids stop by to play with him.

Yup, my.almost 4 yr is the same way. He's super sensitive but outgoing. He gets insulted quickly. I'm hoping its a phase.

My youngest who is 3, is super aggressive & nothing bothers him.

Yup, DD who is 3 is very sensitive.
She is such a sweet girl but very sensitive.
She gets upset if another child is crying or gets yelled at. She has often started to cry herself or want me to hold her.
She also gets upset easily when you correct her or reprimand her. She will typically cry and then often asks if we still lover her Chat Icon Chat Icon
and then need a hug.
She is also in classes which seems to help a bit with her socialization and learning to be a bit tougher.
We try to talk with her a lot about everything but do not tolerate the whining.
We are also hoping she get s a little tougher when she starts school this september.

Yup. Forgot to add that DS reacts off of other kids too. He gets upset when another child is upset bc they are in trouble. We have a sticker chart that he gets a sticker at night and we always say... No whining and No crying.
He knows I won't answer when he's whining or tell him I can't understand him. He will stop whining. He hates getting in trouble and needs a hug after.

Thats my five year old to a t. He is so sensitive and could be so dramatic that sometimes I say in my head that he should have been born a girl. I think its a mixture of character and age though and I hope that he grows out of it.

My DS also 4 is exactly like this! I'm glad to know its not just him. He is so social and so sweet but also super sensitive. He can cry at the drop of a hat. I really want him to toughen up a little because I feel like life is generally more difficult if you are so sensitive so I am hoping it is just a phase.

Eta: DS does the same thing when we reprimand him where he cries and then asks if I still love him. He is starting soccer in the fall and I am already concerned that there wil be a lot of whining and crying on the field. I can already hear what he will say "I can't run so fast", " I can't get the ball", "my leg hurts" and on and on! He is the sweetest boy ever but the whining Chat Icon

My son does this too - it's like he's being rude but, then you realize he just doesn't like doing it.

My older son is sensitive too - he doesn't get upset when others are in trouble but, he's a big mush. He doesn't like to apologize either - since it is admitting he did something wrong.

I"m having issues iwth him right now - his favorite teacher just left and he's getting ready to transition to the next class at daycare and we've had tears every night (even though his whole class is going and he knows/loves the teacher).

Re: Anyone else have a sensitive child?

Glad to hear its not only my DS. I also signed him up for soccer this Fall and hope it goes we'll. He loves swim and I even tried some trial karate classes. Just too much money now plus he's signed up for others. Figured in a year or so karate would be good for him.
