what do you want the dishes for? decorative? or do you want to use them like your regular dishes?

the dishes themselves... you can get nice, plain dishes almost anywhere. i believe target sells them individually.
then you want FOOD SAVE CERAMIC PAINT.
above is a quick google search. use the paints like regular paints... there are also CERAMIC SHARPIE
just follow the instructions on the baking part.
i did this a few years ago and loved the results. i'm not much of a painter, but it was very easy and the results were wonderful.
please post pictures of the finished products. i would love to see what you make

Thank you so much!!! I’m making the grandparents place for the twins first Christmas and then myself stuff. We usually do a monthly craft on canvas but trying to change it up! Lol

Re: Anyone crafty?!
another good idea for a decorative plate is this (i did it a long time ago, but some relatives still have them)
you'll need: plain, glass dishes mod podge foam brushed acrylic paints spray sealer images... could be pictures of the kids, their artwork... the thinner the paper the better.
you decorate the back of the plate. HERE is a quick image search.
these were also very fun to do. i gave them as gifts with the little wooden stand to display them.
