any docs open at this hour? Gabes going downhill again.
11 year old neck pain. Im thinking its a knot from sleeping wrong?

Have you tried motrin and a hot pack? Once the muscles relax and inflamation reduced you can do some gentle strectching.

Thanks for the info. We are going to head to pm pediatrics at noon. Hes now been throwing up all night. Gave him motrin and he took numerous warm showers. There's no arguing with my 11 year old and thats what he wanted... Fingers crossed its nothing and just goes away. Does pm pediatrics do bloodwork, xrays and/ or Mris?

yes, they do. Not MRIs but def X-rays.

I was thinking the same thing, PM will send you there if they think it is serious anyway. Did he have any head trauma? I am no Dr but it sounds a lot like a concussion.

Unless he is also running a fever, has a headache, sensitivity to light or has other serious symptoms he will not be a priority at the hospital. You will most likely wait hours... I'd do PM pediatrics unless the symptoms get worse. They are great and will send you to the hospital if they think it is needed. Always follow your instincts though and not the opinion of strangers on a chat board or what your son dictates. Hope he feels better soon.

I get neck pain when I'm sick - more like serious ache rather than a shooting pain or anything. But if he is throwing up and complaining of pain my first thought is some sort of flu.

This. My neck started to hurt from the flu. I also got light sensitivity and a headache.

Neck pain and flu like symptoms (and sensitivity to light) has the potential to be meningitis - I would suggest going to the ER.

Weve been at pm peds for a while now. Still waiting. As for my son dictating what he wanted i meant the warm shower instead of a warm pqck. He has no other flu symptoms but my friend whos an er nurse is thinking that. Well see.

And I wasnt going to take him to the hospital for neck pain. He was sleeping and woke up with neck pain. I get painful knots in the neck agyer sleeping wrong, which he was doing so I figured I could wait anyway. This place is scary today. Everyonea coughing, wearing masks, crying... I bet we leave sicker than when we arrived lol

Thanks everyone. We were sitting in the waiting room and he fell asleep on my lap. All of sudden he woke up and was like we either go in now or we have to leave. I dont feel good and I cant just sit here with all these strangers. He was unusually agitated. He picked up his head off my lap and his face is red. BEET red. I go up to the nurse at the desk and she seems overwhelmed...doesnt know when well be called. Seemed like she was blowing

Oops. Blowing me off bc everyone think theyre the sickest or something. All of the sudden Gabe walks up and she says Im going to send a nurse out to look at you. They seemed very concerned. Strep negative, flu negative, blood and urine good. IV started in case theyd need it. Blood pressure high. Temp 98.5. Gave him Zofran... All in all he feels better for the moment. So well see. Oh and my other 2 came back from their dads and 1 was throwing up. Great.
