Another MIL gift story...
We saw MIL last week at the family reunion we went to. About a week before, she emailed me asking for something to get DS as a little gift. As they are always claiming poverty and we were flying, I told her to get him a travel etch a sketch, aqua doodle, magna doodle, something along those lines. Inexpensive and easy to travel home with.
So, MIL gets there and hands DS a Tonka Wheel Pals race track....
Well, here are the two problems with that-
1. How the HECK would we get that home?
2. SHE gave him the SAME TOY for CHRISTMAS last year 
So, DH told her. She said "oh. whatever"
She left early, so we gave it to DH's aunt to donate to her church

For the next gift event, tell MIL explicitly, "DS really wants a Tonka Wheel Pals race track". That way, you'll be guaranteed not to get one....
