Another house painting question...

Aside from materials, how much could it really cost to paint an entire interior of a house? We have 4 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, den and a short hallway that I want painted. The bedrooms are not huge. Two of the rooms have chair rails if that matters. We won't be touching the bathroom or basement for a while - maybe a couple of years.

Re: Another house painting question...

I just got a quote from a contractor for a range of things, but painting was one. Including BM paint, it was $4900 for a 2100 sq ft house for the entire interior.

Leslie - we had three bedrooms, the kitchen, dining room, living room, den, hallway and 1/2 bath painted, all different colors, and it was $3200 which also included power-washing of our siding and PVC fence. (We got several quotes, none more than $3500.)

Re: Another house painting question...

We painted all the rooms in the house except the basement, living room, our room and Samantha's room.

My house is just about 3500sq feet we paid $3600 that was for the kitchen, playroom, dining room, two bedrooms and the upstairs bathroom, along with our center hallway and the hallway leading to Samantha's room.

Re: Another house painting question...

I got 2 quotes for our house - 1 was $6000 and the other was $7850. I decided to paint the whole house myself. It took me 7 days but I did it and only had to pay for paint and materials

No dice. I'm pregnant and my husband and I are not DIYers. He seems to develop carpal tunnel at very inconvenient times.

Seriously....

You've seen my ski slope driveway.....

Our first purchase the day we closed on the house was a snow blower, because well, Lenny said the driveway was unshovable and we would need a big heavy duty snowblower.

It's been used once in the 5 years we've been here. The first time someone came and knocked on the door asking if they could shovel our driveway, Lenny said OF COURSE!!!!

Now we have a plow service....and the snow blower sits in the garage. (and that's mostly because I've been pregnant the past 2 winters and unable to "help" do the driveway)

Re: Another house painting question...

We had our house painted in February and I would agree with the PP who said that it was roughly $400 per room. It can be a little more or a little less depending on the size, closets, trim, windows, etc. Plus, they usually give you a better deal if you are having multiple rooms painted.

I had a newborn and we are not DIYers either so it was well worth it! I was very happy with our painter. He came to our house with a giant color wheel of paint samples and helped us pick colors. Let me know if you need a recommendation Chat Icon
