angelcare movement monitor - would you recommend?

I saw this online and feel it would make me feel better seeing as how we just moved ds into his crib in his own room. Does anyone have this? Would you recommend it? Is it worth the money? Thanks!!

Re: angelcare movement monitor - would you recommend?

I got both the AngelCare Monitor and the video monitor when DS was a newborn. To be honest I think I used the AngelCare once or twice and then returned it. The problem is that it sets off false alarms all the time, which just made me more nervous. If he rolled off the pad it would set the alarm off (and it's LOUD) or if I forgot to turn it off before picking him up out of the crib, it would set it off again. It was more of an annoyance to me than a help. Also, you can only use the AngelCare for maybe a year at most. I feel like its a lot of money for something that you dont use for very long.

Love the video monitor though - DS is almost 3 and I still use it (and dont plan on retiring it anytime soon).

I had the opposite experience as the previous poster. I use my Angel Care all the time after 7 months I use just the sound part. I very rarely use my video monitor. The Angel Care monitor gave me such piece of mind, I had one false alarm in 7 months. Just be sure to have a flat surface for it to rest on not slats. I totally recommend it if you are nervous etc.

I have it and love it! Pretty sure I'm addicted to it! I'm paranoid about SIDS and I actually was able to sleep once I started using this. I'm still using this and my dd is 19 months. I very rarely got a false alarm and never got them when she was small and didn't move into the corners. I buy this for everyone I know who is having a baby. I'll be using it again with dd2 once she is born.

We had just the movement monitor version for both DS and DD. It gave us a lot of peace of mind. DS moved around more, so we got the occasional false alarm, but after some tweaking of the sensitivity, and the platform under the mattress, we drastically cut down on the false alarms.

We loved it too. Yes we got some false alarms but that was bc DS was moving to the extreme corners of the crib. Once we increased the sensitivity of the monitor, they stopped.

It gave us great peace of mind. I would not hestitate to get another one if we have another DC. Plus, I liked that the display included the temp.

I love ours. It just makes me feel like I have an extra safeguard. I used it with the bassinet and the crib and it works great.

We only had one false alarm when my daughter was about 6 months old and had rolled to the very end of the crib, parallel to the crib bars.

We have it and love it. We have had a few false alarms but that is because DS rolls so far up into the corner of his crib that he's off the sensor.

The key is to ensure the sensor is on a very flat surface. We put a piece of plywood under the mattress.

I have it and love it! DS has been sleeping in his crib since he was born and it's all because I felt more comfortable having the movement monitor then laying him elsewhere without it.

As long as you remember to turn it off when you pick up DC from the crib you won't have any false alarms.

Re: angelcare movement monitor - would you recommend?

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOOOOOOOOOVE LOOOOOOOOOVE mine!

I can NOT say enough about it!

peace of mind in a way that's impossible to describe. We had an apt with a huge brick chimney that blocked nearly all signals from monitors but never had an issue with the Anglecare. We returned a Graco and knew we'd never have a video monitor.

That movement thing was the best. I got to where I couldnt sleep well unless I heard it. If it stopped, I'd wake up and listen until it started again.

I didn't get many false alarms. They only started when she learned to roll/crawl and would move ALLL the way up to the top of bottom of the crib (short side, not the long side). Which was ok by me, since I could move her before getting her arms and legs stuck.

I used the motion part up to 2yrs old then my cat got lucky and got into her room and chewed thru the wire. I felt so uneasy for like a month. Drove me crazy but I'm ok now. I still use the monitor and she'll be 4 in August.

Id HIGHLY recommend (and I have)

Oh yeah that! LOL so many times we'd forget and run back when it would go off! hahahahaha!

funny thing is I had a huge water sprinkler explosion in my apt here in Texas and I was desperate. I let a neighbor who I didn't know, watch AJ. She offered as I was soaking wet watching my garage flood. I set the monitor on, took the remote with me and told her "do not move her out of the crib or an alarm will go off, she's fine, just watch her" lol

I have it, love it, and def recommend it. DD is 2 and I still use it (didn't realize you were only supposed to use it for a year???). I think it works great and although there are random false alarms (again when she's all the way at the end of the crib), the peace of mind far outweighs the few false alarms that happen. They do have it with the video monitor and movement sensor now which is the best of both worlds. Chat Icon

Ugh that is the most annoying noise ever and I do it at least three times a week

I returned mine. I would have been paranoid it wasn't working right and been constantly checking the baby anyway. Plus I read alot of reviews about the false alarms waking the baby more than anything.

Had it and loved it. It did drive my family nuts with the ticking noise like a metronome, but it was soothing to our ears. I loved it and would highly recommend it. Besides, in the middle of the night who is watching the monitor??? At least I could hear what was going on.

You can turn the ticking (mertonome) noise off.

I have 1. bought it from buybuybaby in December after dd was having bouts of apnea. Honestly, only used it 1 month but found it worked great.

I am more than happy to sell it. I have manual, just no box. feel free to make an offer :)

We have the Halo Snuza for our twins and it gives me such peace of mind. We've had a few false alarms because it gets disconnected from the diaper in the middle of the night with my little kickers :) but really gives me calm now that they are in their own room! I think it's the best gift I got... not sure how it compares to angelcare, but if you're in the market for something like it, definitely check it out!
